Bringing a camera to WHL

Going to the Sheriff match tonight, and was wondering about bringing my camera, a Canon 50D with a 17-85mm lens. Not very advanced.

Will it be ok to bring the camera, or can I risk being stopped at the gates?
I will be sitting in West upper, block 7, so it's pretty far from the actual action on the pitch anyway.
 
Good timing, I'm going to the Saudi Sportswashing Machine game on Sunday and wanted to bring my Canon 600d and was about to ask the same question.
 
my understanding is (at WHL) that you can bring your camera in, but won't be allowed to take pictures during the game

obv don't bring a load of equipment - tripod etc, as that would be too much to take in and you wouldn't be allowed
 
I have taken a regular camera with no bother.

You will get a warning before you are taken out of the ground so as long as you dont take 400 pics infront of a steward you will be fine

thousands take pics on phones etc through every game

Cheers - not planning on taking pictures of the game, just a few photos for my friend (first visit to WHL!) and my self. Inside and outside the ground. Should probably be fine then! :)
 
Like most places now (gigs etc), the line they've drawn (since camera phones truely let the genie out of the bottle) is between personal and commercial use.

I guess some of the bigger and better cameras could theoretically produce commercialisable photos, but as long as you don't have tripods etc., I'd imagine you'd be ok.
 
Interesting, really someone should call the club and ask.

To GB's point, places try to create a line, a few places I've been to (concerts/sports venues) simply do it by removable/non removable lens, i.e. point and shoot = ok, DSLR = no
