Gutting, but can’t blame him for wanting a move. Good luck Djed.

Yeah that’s fair. Was just pointing out that the original stats for last season were potentially misleading for that season. Agree that season isn’t a fair reflection of his potential though, either way.

Strange to show those stats per 100 touches. I guess maybe it’s trying to control for different teams having different amounts of possession. But it might also disproportionately benefit players whose style is just not to get on the ball much, which might actually be a downside. Either way, if...

I didn’t watch the Getafe game, but from this compilation of his good moments he still looks to me like he has so much quality/potential. Really hope De Zerbi convinces him to stay.

Yeah I’m saying why are you so focused on making a profit on players this year? If we sold Solanke now we’d have the benefit of getting that £35m off the books for future years too.

    Transfer thread

Why does it only matter about turning a profit on him this year? We’d also remove the remaining £35m of his amortisation for the coming years.

As someone who struggles to warm to him, for me it’s none of those - I think there’s something about his footballing aesthetic/style that’s off putting. The opposite of elegance. If he turns out to be a good player for us though I’m sure I’ll manage to overcome that!

    Luca Williams-Barnett

Wow, looks seriously talented. What position has he played primarily, CM?

World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

But that’s why it was wrong - because it’s less likely to work against a better side. And they had loads of chances and he still didn’t readjust.

    Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

Yes, though more in an ‘it’s time for a change’ way than a ‘you’re not up to the job’ way. Though depends on whether he could have adapted to our new model of actually getting investment from our owners.

    Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

I think we’re talking at cross purposes. My summary of Levy would be: - In his tenure as a whole, we are the only club to have closed the financial gap with the ‘big 5’ - In his tenure as a whole, we are also the club who’s come closest to closing that gap from a footballing perspective too -...

    Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

I’m just talking about assessing the footballing record over his entire tenure. And I’m not just talking about financially doped clubs - I’m also talking about those who had a financial head start over us, and the rest of the league, when Levy took over. And who we’ve come closer to matching in...

Other than the rich clubs (I.e. Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool), which club had a better footballing record than us in his time here?

    Antonin Kinsky

I’m really pleased to see this, but I do also worry that his shot stopping will be shown as subpar with a longer run of games. He had one brilliant save in that end-of-season spell, but also had one of two that got away. Would be delighted to be proven wrong though!

    Lucas Bergvall

Back in 2025 - still think he looks so promising for a teenager, more than holding his own physically and technically: I remember he was in the top 5-10% of the PL that season for dribbles, progressive carries and tackles (among midfielders).
