Did we know about the clause? All I've seen is Spurs made a bid that made the release clause come in to play, we know neither the exact value of the bid nor the value of the release clause, all we've seen is mention of £60m a figure unconfirmed by any party involved. If we did know I'm sure...

Or the lack of noise is due to them keeping quiet whilst the legal side gets sorted.

And both Forest and MGW agreed to him joining us, it wasn't until Maranakis got involved that the deal was off, Spurs have every right to counter sue but Levy won't push it and be made to look like the bad guy in this. The question is how long do Spurs hold out in getting MGW before they either...

Because there can't be two teams involved buying a player for their release clause. As soon as one team offers equal to or above said clause it is triggered and no longer exist, it then becomes an agreed sale between bidding and selling club.

I disagree, once we triggered the release clause Forest had a contract of sale with us, there was an agreement to sell to us for that fee. They have reneged on that contract.

I disagree, the ball is well and truly in Levy's court. If we've met the release clause and didn't tap him up/ do anything wrong a simple letter requesting the release of MGW as per his contract to both Forest and the EPL should be sufficient. Otherwise take Forest to court for breach of contract

Or he has said, you let me go and I won't be a taco about it.

What can the club say? Well they could publicly refute Forest's claim of tapping up MGW and say see you in court. Call their bluff.

I cannot imagine anyone at Spurs being told the release clause is £60,152,750 (or whatever random figure it was) and then offering Forest the exact amount of the release clause. I'm guessing the bid was close to and just enough over the amount to trigger it and that is why Marianakis is kicking...

Technically you have to accept the first offer equal to or greater than as any bid after that is not against the release clause because that has already been met and doesn't exist anymore.
