***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa***, PL, Sat 19th Sept 2026

The midfield has looked more balanced in a 433, Tonali finally allowed the be the box to box carrier he is, Fernandes still looks slightly uncomfortable as a 8, he is so clearly a 6. Changes I’d make for the 2nd half are Kudus for Solanke and switch Savio to the left, and then get Maddison on...

I suppose the debate around Gray is what his best position is, when it comes to men’s senior football, he has barely played in midfield. He was the right back in his one season at Leeds, and for us has been played at RB, CB, LB and in various CM roles. It really is time for the sake of his own...

My primary concern with playing Marmoush as a 10 is that in practice it plays out as 442.

My only concern with that team is Marmoush as a 10, I’m not exactly sure it suits him, I won’t pretend to having watched much of him in Germany so I just had a quick look on FotMob and picked out a handful of random matches from his last season there, every match had Frankfurt lining up the same...

It’s the same issue I was raising around Tonali after the weekend, he is dropping deep to compensate for Bentancur. Once Fernandes came on, it released his average position 10 yards further up the pitch. Bergvall for me has a similar profile to Tonali, they are both box to box ball carriers, but...

The momentum shifted after Gray went down injured for a couple of minutes at around that 20 minute point.

These are 25/26 statistics generated by AI, so there may be room for error, they show his overall standing in the Premier League for each. Successful short passes: 1256 (37th Successful long passes: 110 (29th) Interceptions: 35 (32nd) Duels won: 199 (13th) Tackles won: 103 (5th) Touches: 2120...

By that reasoning peak Gareth Bale should have been played as a left back if either we or Real had a injury crisis in that position. I get the point you’re making and if there was absolutely no one else available and the manager remained determined to play a 10 then yes, but there are 3 players...

Yes, I better have AI write every post from now on, because that was obviously in no way, shape or form a deliberate sarcastic misspelling in a post about the spelling police.

If in an alternate reality we had signed one of Vitinha, Rodri or Tchouameni instead of Fernandes, nobody would even be suggesting we play them as an 8, and everybody would be scratching their heads if we played any of them as a 10 all to accommodate Bentancur while simultaneously also asking...

    Sandro Tonali Official

I have been saying all pre season that this squad is better suited to a 433 until the 10s are back fit and that Tonali is not a 6. Going back to the original point I made it’s not about Bentancur’s individual performances being bad as I stated in the original post, it’s the fact Tonali is being...
