And you have to judge any of these diagrams like the one you included with the mitigating circumstance that a) he was mostly played on the side of his weaker foot and thus not expected to be...

    Yes we are absolutely allowed to disagree! I agree with you that Spence was establishing his position between the ball and defender. If that had been outside the box it would probably have been given as a foul. I was just suggesting the reason why I thought it was overturned, and it appears...

    I think it’s because Spence initiates contact by putting his leg across the defender and not making another move towards the ball before going to ground from contact. I didn’t think a) was a penalty too.

    Given the injury history of the other two strikers over the past couple of seasons I would imagine he would get plenty… …and given the quality of those other two I would hope it wouldn’t take plenty for him to prove himself as our best striker!
