I know. The worst footballer on the pitch. You leave him until last.

It will be criminal if Colombia or Switzerland get to the semis.

I think the turning point was when the rest of the Premier League realised he couldn’t kick a ball and targeted him. To go from Toby and Jan, two supremely good footballers as well as good defenders to Sanchez was quite a drop off. It’s a shame he became a lightning rod for the club’s poor...

World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

My philosophy before the tournament started was ABP: Anyone But Portugal. It wasn't really about Portugal as a team—I just didn't want Ronaldo to end his career by winning the World Cup. Now that they're out, though, after such a low-key, underwhelming exit, I actually feel a bit sorry for him...

Well done mate. You’ve made a mistake but you’ve owned up to it and apologised. I’m really not a fan of piling on and calling for someone to be banned, although I accept others may hold different views to me.

Mbappé was absolutely first class in his response to Paraguay's thugs. Sometimes the best way to deal with a bully is simply to laugh at them. I'm not even an Mbappé fan, but his reaction definitely earned my respect. As for the Paraguayan senator, it's quite telling that she had nothing to say...

Always tickles me that Spanish fans “sing” their national anthem when it has no words.

Re the 2022 World Cup, Argentina got some soft penalties but nothing out of the ordinary, certainly not enough to make me think it was rigged for Messi to win it. If Kolo Muani finishes that chance in extra time then Argentina most likely lose the match.

Again not trying to change anyone’s minds, I’m just glad that a player who should never have been sent off in the first place is now eligible to play.

Wonder if it will lead to refs being told not to send players off now so it doesn’t lead to more chaos.

World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

We’re not a team that dominates possession or plays with the flair of France, Spain or even Argentina. What we do have, though, is incredible spirit and two players who are capable of winning a football match almost single-handedly. I agree with you about Shearer’s punditry as well. I get that...

No I wouldn’t, but I’m still fine with the outcome. Sorry.

World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

You’re probably right about Argentina, but I still wouldn’t write them off. They have a knack for turning every stadium into a home game. They could play in Timbuktu or Antarctica and still have 30,000 fans in the stands. Then there’s Messi, who alone could be the difference. On paper, we’re...

I understand people being uncomfortable with the decision, the process or lack of one and the idea of Trump interfering. But would it have been fair for Balogun to miss the match through suspension and the USA lose and get knocked out? For me, the outcome is the correct one and Balogun deserves...

Risky taking Kane off. Tuchel did that in the CL semi final a couple of years ago against Real Madrid and it bite him in the arse.

At least 10 mins of injury time I reckon

It’s not like for like. But like @SissokoWasGood (BoL) i agree with the outcome. It would have been wrong for Balogun to have been unable to play.

Other sports do it. The NHL for example implements rule changes in the middle of the season.
