OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

Considering our lack of playmakers in MF, I’d like to see Xavi play in the midfield 3 with two of Solanke/RKM/Richie up top. Why not put our most creative player in a position where he is able to get on the ball more, with a couple of runners ahead of him?

Admittedly we were work colleagues before we knew of each other teams. But we do have a custom for the minute the last game ends before an NLD, we will each text "GFY" to the other and not speak directly till after the game. Our mutual friends have to act as intermediaries. And referring to...

Champions League 25/26: Dortmund, PSG, Villarreal, Frankfurt, Slavia, Bodø/Glimt, Copenhagen, Monaco

Just seen highlights of the Juve-Galatasaray game and the second yellow/straight red for Kelly is an absolutely atrocious decision. What is Kelly supposed to do there?!!! In the NBA, the opponent would be penalized for leaving a foot in the landing area of the jumping player, to avoid sprained...

Agree on Poch. I think we’re in a moment where we should minimize any risks with our next managerial appointment, and that for me is Poch, or someone of his ilk. Iraola is a fine manager, and I would be fine with him taking over, but is a second choice for this reason.

WHO DO YOU TRUST TO DRAG US OUT?

In his own way, Richie is just about the perfect player for a relegation scrap. I can see us staying up on the last day of the season with Richie bundling an extra time winner over the line with his backside!

And lost their star striker a couple seasons back and star winger last month. But he has made bang-average players such as Tavares, Adams and Kluivert look top drawer when I watch them. However, I really think the next manager’s personality is just as big a consideration as his tactics, and am...

A Gooner friend was harping on about how VdV was blatantly ignoring Tudor during the game. I didn’t watch the game but he sent me a vid of the incident and you’ve got to admit it doesn’t look good. Is VdV already counting the days till he leaves us this summer? If so, do we take the captaincy...

Having players who have come through the academy provides an extra level of pride in playing for the shirt though. I’ll wager a training session with a few Academy graduates pushing for a first XI place will be more intense than one without.

I want to see Palhinha break Havertz in two, VdV make Saka cry, Xavi break Rice’s ankles with his twists and turns and Solanke batter the f*** out of their CBs. All while Tudor laughs in Arteta’s face as we score our eighth goal.of the first half. COYS!!!!

Agree. In reality TF’s philosophy was 100% lacking in any ambition to play the attractive football he promised us in his pre-season press conferences, and his tactics, while he did change formation and move players around, never really altered until Kudus got injured. In over twenty games, he...

Not really. My comment was about TF, and his refusal to alter the tactics when it was blindingly obvious it wasn’t working. I was really frustrated with us constantly playing 4-2-3-1 when we didn’t have a quality LW, a ball-playing DM or a CF who could hold the ball up under pressure. In...

Every leader should have principles, but can still be tactically flexible in the way they use their resources to best achieve the collective goals. The game is constantly changing, faster now than it ever has, and stubbornly sticking to one plan which used to work but maybe isn’t as effective...

Great article on the Beeb today about how Giardiola has altered his tactics to suit the players he currently has available, rather than trying to squeeze round blocks into square holes. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cr7323v131lo Our players under TF were so rigid the opposition...

    James Maddison

Would be great to see him back out there but we should keep our expectations in check as he will not only take a few games to get back up-to-speed but will almost certainly break down with a hamstring or similar muscle injury as nearly all players recovering from a long-term injury do. I don't...

As long as Dragusin plays the RCB role, yes. I’d either play Paulinha in the middle of the back three or move VdV there and play Archie or Spence (if Porro is fit) at LCB.

    Randal Kolo Muani

Playing two wide attackers only works if the midfield are playing close enough to support, with the defense pushing up behind them. But we didn’t do that. The front four were so isolated, individually and collectively, that they had no cohesiveness and the only option, if they managed to retain...

A front three of RKM-Xavi-Solanke playing as a tight-knit unit (as opposed to being stretched across the field) should trouble any defense.
