Maybe, just maybe it wasn't the manager as I was saying and instead its.....the players...

Neither are world class, VDV definitely bloody isn't.

    No, its not dangerous play.

+Souza + Danso. We might not be playing well but its not due to a lack of effort.

Awesome work from Gray there. He made that goal, I like that he was calm in the box.

Porro got away with one there, but fudge me that is a sign. He doesn't have fudging defensive instincts yet is apparently a defender. We need better.

    Hes useless.

Porro is so dog brick. Just left Sarr rather actually challenging him.

Shadow of his former self? What was his former self exactly? 😅

I like Souza, I like him a lot.

These feels like a strong lineup and arguably best variation of a 3 at the back system possibly.

What was the trigger in our downward trend?

Whilst I agree that last season was a new low, I don't think I can say that's the begining of the decline. Last season was just the chickens finally coming home to roost as a result of our terrible long term strategy. The decline in reality started the years when we bought no one and the squad...

    Xavi Simons

I don't disagree but it can also then be understandable to some extent if the manager then gets sub optimal results with the alternative option if their intention was for a very different profile entirely.

All three are very different players with very different profiles. It makes the selection of them all rather unbalanced imo as they are not interchangable.

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

It would have shown his flexibity in the bread and butter competition. It would have given people like myself who wanted him to succeed but were angered by his stubborness something to hold on to, something cite as a reason to give him another go. I said in the latter stages of the season I...

    Xavi Simons

No I'm not saying we shouldn't have gone for anyone. Simmons is actually the player of the primary 3 that I liked the most pre any transfer speculation. What I am saying though is that he does not appear to have been our primary choice so as you say he is very different from the other two and so...

    Xavi Simons

So he didn't want to come and he wasn't whom we were initially or even secondarily looking at. Makes it all the worse, again even though I personally rate the player (but not his overall spell at Spurs so far).

    Igor the Interim

I'd try Souza first or at the least very seriously consider him. In the few minutes he has had so far he looks very competent on the ball and importantly seems very calm when hes in the final 3rd, hes not rushing around, he looks to pick out players with his crosses or passes.

    Thomas Frank’s coaching staff

From Hetinga's agent, so it sounds like the idea of him stayiong was indeed their plan.
