Interim Manager Discussion - Igor Tudor joined until end of season

I'm glad I'm not the one making the call cos I honestly don't think there are any obvious solutions out there for this season. We are in such a state with injuries that whoever comes in will have his hands tied wrt selection. We're short in defence, we're short in attack so do you want someone...

    These jokers…

In hindsight though don't you think that given the churn at all levels above the playing staff it was a change made at the wrong time given our position at pitch level? The Lewis's have put themselves, Vinai and all other new appointments at boardroom level in a very precarious situation, whilst...

I really don't want to judge them on a photo but Christ it's hard not to do so with one like that

Our signings since the Champions League final

My disappointment with that era is that it came at the time we were building the stadium and so could not/did not invest at a level that would have taken that great XI and supplemented it with a strong squad - no doubt in my mind that we would have been up there with Liverpool & City had we done so.

I don't think he would have going by his recent interview (check his thread in general)

Our signings since the Champions League final

Not that hard, you need a squad not just an XI - we competed on multiple fronts most of those seasons which meant come the business end we were at a disadvantage when facing up against the big clubs who invested not only in a first XI but a deep squad filled with quality.

Me neither, but we all see the clips on SM and how it shapes fan perception.

    Next Manager Thread (2026 Edition)

I think the trophy done more for his reputation than seeing out a poor league season so i don't see that as a sacrifice on his part - given his always win comments I'd imagine it would have been his choice anyway. If (big if) we finished lower mid table rather than 17th he may have come through...

Thomas Frank - Former Head Coach

I really don't like how Conte gets made out to be some kind of martyr to the cause. He wasn't really saying anything different to what Pochettino was saying with the new house/better furniture comments - two different approaches to saying the club needs to step up, one doing so out of passing...

The press conferences are more for getting the buy in from supporters and shaping outside perception than the players or club hierarchy who will get theirs from the day to day interactions with the manager, doubt any players will watch a press conference.

Might as well give it to VDV & Romeo

Our signings since the Champions League final

Both signed permanently in the 19/20 season. Tbf this list of transfers should go back to the first of the 3 windows without a signing given that is when the rot set in.

Our signings since the Champions League final

7 years and a billion in transfer fees later and we haven't bought a single player that's an improvement on that XI

Pochettino coming back and succeeding here would be a beautiful thing. I don't think there's a scenario imaginable that would top it.

Agree on our approach somewhat, just not that Arsenal are an example of the type of succession planning we should be looking at - they've done similar (mismatched appointments) but have just landed on something that works in spite of that
