Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

That was part of my point. Ideally you'd have an age of consent then an age at which you are allowed to conceive. But that's unrealistic. The age of consent, of course, is higher than 16 in some countries, including Western ones

It's more about viewing maturity as a scale. 18 is the age of majority - there isn't technically a adult age. It's why we have an age of criminal responsibility - under ten, 10-17, 18+ It's why you can drink with a meal at 16, but not go out on the lash until 18, legally But you can get behind...

They met his release clause, but the Euro shifted Vs the Pound before the fax was received, so Bournemouth rejected it and PSG refused to pay the extra 50 cents.

Nah. You are missing the key point - what is his release clause on Football Manager? We probably just saw that and went with it.

A pre action letter is standard. Courts generally look unfavorably on parties that haven't attempted to resolve the matter themselves

The more I think about it, it makes sense. If we aren't going full £60m upfront, I'd much rather have a mediator than have to negotiate directly with our Daniel

    The "Why" thread

Completely agree. Yes, of course, accentuating a lost and/or diminished trait is evolution. I hadn't properly considered that. Evolution itself is partly a reaction to conditions and surroundings - so it makes perfect sense. Why do you think Sociopathy is the next stage?

    The "Why" thread

Suffering, oppression and unease are what characterise Dystopia, so we definitely can compare. I would fascinating to see if anyone has attempted to apply things like the Gini Coefficient to previous times. I'm going to Google that - that seems like the kind of thing someone would do as a PhD!

    The "Why" thread

That wouldn't be an evolution, it would be an accentuation of existing characteristics moving them closer back to the start of human evolution (probably pre and early homosapien level). I think Neurodiversity is the a stage of human evolution. Although I don't think either ND or Sociopathy are...

    The "Why" thread

I don't think it is. Life now around the world is better than it was a few hundred years ago for almost everyone. It's perverse, but those suffering today would probably already be dead, or enslaved, not too long ago. Could "we" do better - yes. Should we - no; should is determined by being...

    The "Why" thread

Why would there be a creator? I can understand the creation of a character called creator thousands of years ago because h-s's need to tell stories and because as the brain was developing there needed to be answers to explain events. But it's an oddly arrogant thing to think there is a creator...

    The "Why" thread

I was actually having a joke, but this is my kind of thread. So, that's a response to "why are we here?". But is say production isn't a necessary part of the why. It's a factor humans, but it's not intrinsic to our being. There is a strange human fear and/or arrogance that leads us to think we...
