I like Madueke. He's not club trained though I think. Left too early to become club trained with us.

    The "DM" thread

Danso, VdV, Dragusin, Davies and then the kids... Seems alright, but would weaken us quite a bit unless someone really steps up (Danso, Dragusin or one of the younger players). Particularly when we get an injury or two. Though think Dragusin will do better under Frank than Ange. Add ballplaying...

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Obviously he hasn't been loaned back to Spain because he can run far. That doesn't mean he's been loaned to Spain because he's not putting the effort in in the gym.

    Cristian Romero

For sure we should be willing to upgrade on anyone. But what upgrades give us the most value for money? And for a player with reportedly sky high wage demands questions of what that does to our overall wage structure come in too. What would the total cost be and if we instead spent that money...

Never know what will happen with young players, but Moore seems to me so ready to make that step up. Perhaps would do better with a loan though. But I could see him just clicking into gear too.

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

It also depends on style of play. Not for Modric as much, world class is world class. Don't think Mourinho and Conte were good for Gil in that regard. Then Ange wanting touchline huggers. We can't know that he's done enough, we also can't know he hasn't. The point about endurance is that you...

Very much agreed. And the most important thing on potential transfers will be who does Frank want and think he can get the best out of over time. If that's Kudus, cool. If not, also cool. If Frank thinks Johnson/Tel/Odobert/Moore etc, also great.

Fully agreed on needing variation. But I do also think concerns about consistency and being "head down" are fair given what we're likely to have to pay to sign him. Personally I don't know. Fully agreed also on a dictator if tempo sort of playmaker. We can't just rely on Maddison for that...

The 'If You Still Need to Purge Yourself Of Ange' Thread

I thought this was the Ange thread. Ah well. No room for nuance or anything positive to say about Ange in your opinion. That's fine. I have a different opinion.

    Eberechi Eze

The main issue with Maddison is arguably fitness. I think he needs his minutes managed. The other is inconsistency. I think that's partly an issue because we lack other players with his skill set leading to us being overly dependent on him, if he has an off game there's no one to really take up...

Not in disagreement. I don't know enough about Kudus to have a strong opinion. But I think players in that price range even if not fully established or obvious top level players can be really good signings. We need a bit more experience. I'm really hopeful on what Frank can do with those...

The 'If You Still Need to Purge Yourself Of Ange' Thread

I hope and think it will be a little bit easier for Frank. There weren't that many of our most talented youngsters that had been out on loan or looked particularly close to being first team ready during Ange's time here. The Elfsborg game was a great experience, but I'm not sure it was...

Probably not entirely by choice. But he said Bergvall, Gray and Odobert was signed for this season too. He trusted them quite early in the cups and more as they settled in. But he shouldered some of that burden.

"Yes, by the time Ange left the team was better" was the entirety of my original point.

Seems like we've done a good job with loans recently. But yeah, needs to be a path there.

The 'If You Still Need to Purge Yourself Of Ange' Thread

I agree. And we need that. The most likely path to that player is to develop a player either from the academy or a player signed while fairly young. On that front too we're in a much more likely situation for that to happen than we were two years ago. Ange has done his part in that with younger...

I think of Odobert, Tel and Moore in a different category than someone like Kudus. Can hope that the former explodes like Alli, hopefully can do a job short term, but will need time and a bit more experience to start fulfilling their potential. Kudus for me is a level beyond that. Has...

The 'If You Still Need to Purge Yourself Of Ange' Thread

The players have things to prove for sure. But the team/squad is in much better shape now than when he took over. Sure that's perception. You may have a different perception, but I fundamentally disagree that the only way to evaluate a player team or squad is results and performances of the team.

The 'If You Still Need to Purge Yourself Of Ange' Thread

You said he didn't leave us a better team. I said for me he absolutely did. You say that's your point. I think you know very well what I meant and that what I said wasn't your point. And you just felt a need to call Ange bloody awful again.

If he was consistent and had consistently good end product he probably would be beyond our reach. Frank has a pretty good track record of getting players to step up and I think part of our strategy should be signing fairly expensive players who we think will make that step up. Identifying who...
