    The Fight for Europa

Due to the delayed schedule the qualifying rounds for the 2020/21 Europa League are single leg matches. However, no English team will start in the play-off round. The lowest placed of the entrants that qualify through the PL will start in the 2nd qualifying round of the EL - two rounds before...

    The Fight for Europa

If Wolves win the EL they will get a CL place and: • if Wolves also finish the league in an EL qualifying position then England lose a EL place - but it's the EL place that Wolves would have used. • if Wolves finish 7th and Arsenal win the FA Cup, Wolves wouldn't have qualified for the EL so...

    The Fight for Europa

There is a theoretical possibility of an extra European place (ie. total of 8) but it doesn't help EL qualification through the league. For example, if: 1. Liverpool 2. Man C 3. Man U 4. Leicester 5. Chelsea (CL winners) 6. Sheff U 7. Spurs 8. Wolves (EL winners) Then CL entrants (5) would be...

The Official 2019/20 Premier League Thread

Clearly very hypothetical but we could only be relegated if we lost all our remaining games, including the one against Arsenal, which would result in them finishing above us.

    Emirates Marketing Project

Without going into the specifics of this case, my general impression of past CAS rulings on appeals against UEFA decisions is that they often uphold the UEFA decision but reduce the penalty. I wouldn't be surprised if CAS agreed with UEFA's findings but reduced the ban to 1 year.

    VAR: Sponsored by Chelsea

Rather a misleading headline from the BBC. It's the rule on being cautioned for encroachment ... which has been suspended and then (as the headline does say) the change is for penalty shootouts only - not for penalties taken during normal time.

    ~ OMT ~ TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FC v Liverpool FC ~ THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL ~ 2019 ~

The new handball rules (which incidentally didn't apply for the CL final) specifically say "it is not usually an offence if the ball touches a player’s hand/arm ... when a player falls and the hand/arm is between the body and the ground to support the body".

    ~ OMT ~ TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FC v Liverpool FC ~ THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL ~ 2019 ~

Just to clarify, as there seems to be some confusion, the change in the law on handball was not implemented for the CL final. UEFA announced on 29 May that the law changes would not apply to UEFA competitions until 25 June (link). Secondly, it's worth saying that the main change regarding...
