Some players have the knack of making things happen when they come on as substitutes. It's not just being able to take advantage of tired legs -- it's also following the manager's instructions, but equally it can be reading the game from the bench well enough to figure out what you have to do.

I'm just praying that he doesn't turn out to be another Darren Bent.

    Elon is definitely a "member".

    Lucas Bergvall

Popped in just to say this, having watched a couple of short highlights videos. His weight of pass is superb -- and that's how to open up a defence. Eriksen was superb at that. However, Bergvall was given so much space as Hearts barely pressed him. That won't happen in the Prem.

It's bloody amazing, but I can't have been paying attention as I really don't remember any significance to the number 15.

    Copa America 2024

I went with some mates to the Nou Camp in 2012 as we decided we wanted to see Pep's great Barca team (incl. Messi) play before it was too late. It ended up being Pep's last home game, against Espanyol. They won 4-0 with Messi pretty much untouchable -- except for the two (maybe three) penalties...

Definitely a good question. I just want a striker though. I really think that having someone to sit in the box and bang 'em in would turn us into title challengers. Werner isn't world class, but having him and Sonny (and Solomon) covering LW is good enough for me. On the right, Johnson should...

I agree with all of that, except the Richi injury thing. He's had a terrible season with us, but hopefully he'll be luckier next time. I thought that Ange was going to turn Johnson into a striker, kind of like what Wenger did with Terry Henry -- move a quick winger with decent finishing into...

Rough highlights of Prem teams' transfer windows

A lot of people, myself included, thought £40m a pretty high price for a young CB who'd had a couple of seasons at one of the mid-table Bundesliga clubs and seemed to be doing fairly well but not making the headlines. I'd argue that £40m for a solid English 27yo CB with Prem experience (and 2...

True. Toney has proved that he can score goals in the Premiership and, importantly, seems able to lead the line and rough up defenders. More so than Sonny has ever done. Possibly a mixture of Richarlison's physicality and Sonny's finishing. My big issue with him is that he seems to be a bit of...

    Archie Gray

4th most expensive 18 year old (behind Endrick, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr) according to this Transfermarkt article: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/the-most-expensive-18-year-olds-of-all-time-archie-gray-ranks-4th/view/news/440018 The picture reel halfway down that article includes 19yo's too --...

Excellent interview. Speaks well, seems grounded. Coming from a proper football family will help. Plus, he's got Modric legs!

Wow, that escalated quickly! If Gray, Bergvall and Sarr reach their potential, then f*ck me but we'll have one hell of a centre midfield. With the likes of Mikey Moore to come in a few years later. I mean, there's still a long way between "talented teenager in a lower league" and "bossing it...

Yeah, I suppose he did alright! Adding Walker and Trippier takes us to 3 good Championship signings in the last 15 years. And it's not like the others have been even moderately good.

Good point. I must have missed him. I think Kyle Naughton came at the same time. Definitely a success.

Bale, yes, but it's more than a little disingenuous to count Carrick and Defoe as signings from the Championship. Sure, we technically bought them from a Championship club, but they'd both made their names in the Prem before West Ham got relegated. What significant signings have we made from...

    Getting silly now.

While I agree with the sentiment, this isn't strictly true. I was in Da Nang (big town on the coast of central Vietnam) last summer and it was full of Chinese people, many of whom were there to gamble. You're allowed to gamble if you've got a foreign passport, so there are a few massive casinos...
