That's a very good point. Angeball has very specific requirements for goalkeeper and central defenders, which pushes many to the limits of their comfort zones -- I mean, if a player was that comfortable on the ball, they'd usually have ended up in CM (and certainly not between the sticks!) some...

Attacking midfielders. Or wingers and a no.10, whatever you want to call them. Poch's team was arguably 4-2-3-1 (before going to a back 5 later on), whereas I'd describe our current formation as 4-3-3, but you've got to make a comparison somehow! Unless what you mean is that the current AMs...

It's accepted knowledge that good CBs are relatively easy to find, so they don't command high prices -- unlike creative midfielders or strikers. Finding a truly great CB though, or even a great CB partnership...now that doesn't happen often. Especially when you're expecting them to be good...

    Okay, now I'm conflicted. Mate.

    Cann we?

Interestingly, Fantasy Premier League rate the difficulties as 3 + 2 for us, then 2 + 3 for both Liverpool and City, and 4 + 2 for Arsenal. Although I'd probably rate Luton at home a 1 and Brentford away a 4. It won't be easy, but I don't see the chances of us getting 6 points as any lower than...

    ***TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Chelsea OMT***

I've just seen the MotD highlights from their match against Brentford. Chelsea dominated possession (69%) and had plenty of chances - but their finishing was terrible. We absolutely shouldn't be underestimating them.

The best chants are the simple ones. "You can stuff your lemons up yer arse."

    Cann we?

I'm guessing he means Mahrez. The problem is that we don't currently have 2 real scorers! If Richi, Kulu or Johnson starts banging them in, great. Otherwise, I think we'd need a 30-goal season from Sonny to get anywhere close.

    Cann we?

Is anyone else getting annoyed by all the comments about the great Spurs double side getting 27 points from 9 games (or 30 from 10 now)? They didn't. It was 2 points for a win in those days.

    Guglielmo Vicario

That seems pretty fair. While Vicario seems a brilliant signing in hindsight, there were plenty (myself included) wondering why we were taking a punt on a relatively unknown young Italian when a decent keeper with Prem experience was available.

    Guglielmo Vicario

And even that would show good introspection. Regardless of his reasons, he seems an excellent mix of sense and passion. A real leader at the back.

    Guglielmo Vicario

Being a cynical old man, I view such quotes with a degree of suspicion. If taken at face value, on the other hand, one has to question why... Did Vicario see it as his chance to become long term #1 keeper at a major club? That'd imply a decent degree of footballing knowledge, knowing Lloris...

    Luka Vuskovic

Brexit, unfortunately. I guess not having freedom of movement means that he can't be employed in the UK until he's 18. I've not heard about this affecting other clubs -- like Chelsea and Emirates Marketing Project, who always seem to have plenty of foreigners in their youth setup, but it's probably just that I...

Hopefully the modern one rather than the WW2 version.

I'd much rather have Maddison in that space. Although given that it's Fulham, Hojbjerg and Sarr could be given licence to push up a lot further than usual. I'd be nervous of over-committing if Romero isn't available though.

    Cristian Romero

And there we have it. "Woo" or not, we've all seen how Spurs players seem to take ages to heal. It could be that this happens to every club, and we just pay more attention to our own...or it could be our physio room being run by Gooner clowns...or it could be down to those pesky lemons after...

    Micky van de Ven

I wonder if anyone below the age of 30 knows who he is? Seriously though, even if I was 18 again, I'm pretty sure no amount of training and diet would get me close to even an un-doped Ben Johnson. And I was always reasonably quick over 20 metres -- much less lardy than my online moniker might...

Fair point, and I agree that anyone can get quicker with the right coaching (especially if they've never had proper sprint training) but, if you're not a speedster by 18, I don't think you can become truly fast. Not to a level that would stand out against top level footballers, anyway.

    Alejo Véliz

LOVING this article about Veliz! "I remember one game, a very tricky away match against Lanus, the year when we finished third in the league. We were winning 2-1 when one of their strikers broke through alone. He ran from halfway, leaving our defenders behind, and looked certain to score. But...
