    General Transfer Discussion Thread

I am suggesting things which will improve our profile and thus draw toward top players is stronger success on the pitch is important but not the only factor. The training facilities are good but are still not considered the best - which they need to be. It is a myth that the champions league is...

    General Transfer Discussion Thread

Agree with most of this. However the new stadium is too small to make any notable change. All the growth is abroad. My view is that we need to stop thinking like the rest of the league and differentiate ourselves from the tag that we are a more than an above average PL club. We cannot compete...

    General Transfer Discussion Thread

It's odd but everybody would have said the same about us 1 year ago. Many of the above signings won't work out for whatever reason. I think this is one of the most important seasons that we as a clubs have ever faced. In the 1990s and early 2000s, we made many expensive transfer mistakes...

I though that a few members of that team were implicated in some sort of betting scam? Or didn't that story pan out?

Why are we such a pushover against the top sides?

Agree with this post. It looked like our main attacking threat was when we tried to win the ball back early. That was plan A, it worked well vs. QPR (2-3 goals) and will get us a top half finish but we certainly need a plan B and C for breaking down teams.

Why are we such a pushover against the top sides?

About time that we started this thread, in fact we could have started this thread in the early 1990s when our poor records against Utd and Chelsea began. However in those days it would have crashed the internet. My point is that this is clearly nothing new and no short term fix based on what we...

    Welbeck

Welbeck isn't a bad player, I've always liked him but doesn't he want "1st team" football? That's a mid-table side for him and yes I would certainly prefer Soldado (as at least we haven't seen the best of him, whereas we have seen the best of Welbeck!)

A good but not a £60m player. Good news is that he will fix a problem they don't have.

Re: Last week of transfer window: who realistically would you like to see go and come Why is everybody so keen to write off so many talented but under performing players? What makes it worse is that they want to replace them with players that they have hardly ever seen play! Signing new...

I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

Re: Official - Lamela Lamela is young, we've spent the money and we need to give him a chance. I am happy to write off last season but we have to make sure that if it isn't working that he/we doesn't end up doing a Bentley. BTW good article below...

The Match of the Day Thread

Can anybody else find Match of the Day on iplayer? I've looked but is it actually there and I've missed it? Rant start... As a PL fan based in the UK, I am discriminated against. In the USA and many other countries it is possible to watch ALL PL games live on demand & its cheap(ish). Its not...

I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

Re: Official - Lamela How long do we give this guy? If he hasn't got into the team by January then I guess we need to loan him back out to Italy. Has he even travelled out for tonight's match?

I wore jeans and a blazer one time and now I have no friends. People (i.e. strangers) tell me that I don't need friends like that. Will you be my friend?

    Morgan Schneiderlin

Best combination played on Sat (from KO) but that wasn't a 4-4-2 so was a bit more dynamic. We've struggled to get the ball forward quickly because: a) of the way we (our coaches) chose to play, it easy to play the ball longer and earlier if you choose to do so. It is not a question of one...

    Morgan Schneiderlin

He offers nothing which can't be found by finding the right combination of CM players on the staff. Re: crouch/Parker - at the time, these guys were who we needed and went straight to the first team. Sometimes we need to do that, but when we do, let's make sure we have a budget to get quality...

    Morgan Schneiderlin

Everybody has a right to an opinion (including managers) but it's a guess - the only way to "know" is to sign them. Hence you must look at the balance of risk. The list I give above is not exhaustive but it contains some of the elements that you have to consider, if he ticked more of those boxes...

    Morgan Schneiderlin

That comment was aimed at somebody who had decided that we should sign Schneiderlin because some pundits/fans said he was good, rather than offering their own reasons. Reasons not to sign Schneiderlin are as follows: As an individual 1. Price: He costs £17m plus i.e. he is overpriced in the...

In fact my Gazza at 2m compared to 20m for 1st team player comparison is not quite a fair comparison. Gazza was a promising talent and would be worth 75m in the current market. The rate of inflation certainly isn't that high. Investing in youth is more cost effective than ever. I am not saying...
