    The 5:2 diet

This is exactly why diets don't work, people aren't willing to learn about nutrition. Diets all do the same thing, they restrict your calorie intake, that's the only way to lose weight. You say you like your food, thats fine, but just know that no food is inherently bad. The issues with...

    Equal Pay/Equality

I'd agree with you, but I dislike this 'same job' argument because no two people do the same job. Two people may be in similar jobs with the same job title, but no company pays two people to do the same work. Here is a fantastic TED talk by Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook on the issue of...

    Equal Pay/Equality

This drives me crazy on the BBC. I feel like there is a clear directive to give more prominent coverage to Womens sports. I don't really have a problem with that but the way they make the headlines vague to fool readers. Give womens sport more coverage by all means, but don't try to falsely...

    Equal Pay/Equality

The Rooney Rule wasn't strictly affirmative action though, as there were no quotas for minorities. This is clearly distinct from Labours all-female shortlists in which only women could be elected. The analogy for this would be the league saying only black coaches could be hired...

    Equal Pay/Equality

I agree with what has been said about Affirmative Action so far. Equal Pay is an interesting issue. Women choose jobs that have more flexible hours, they move in and out of the labour market, and men in full time work average more hours per week than women in full time work. I don't believe...

    Garden - My Allotment.

Is the hard work all the first year? So after getting it sorted subsequent years will require much less work to prepare the soil?

Dude is delusional. 10 years captain? He only played 11 and from 2003/4 it was Terry/Ferdinand. He debuted in '96, and he can't expect to be given the armband ahead of Shearer as a new player. Then in 2000 Beckham takes over, so he clearly thinks he should have got it over Beckham. Considering...

    Ukraine

No they aren't excluded from voting but even if they were, China would likely defend Russia

    Ukraine

We aren't going to war with Russia over Ukraine. In fact, most Western governments don't seem to care. Wasn't even mentioned at PMQs on Wednesday. I forsee a split Ukraine in to east and west, with the east annexed by Russia and west integrating with Europe and the EU.

    Sporting capital of the world?

New York is the dominant US Sport city with multiple teams for each of the big 4 professional sorts in America, but with the exception of Basketball which is popular in Europe and China those sports are pretty limited to North America. London obviously has elite Football teams, the home of...

Help required TV/Broadband/Energy supplier- hypothetical question from my friend

The costs of Sky are because the games are handed out in a bidding war. Hopefully EU rulings will be upheld and allow British people to buy more television from other countries at reduced rates. That kind of competition is the only thing that can make Sky more competitive. Oh and services like...

That's simply not true. What could Scotland possibly offer to get the Spanish to allow them EU membership?

You can't have 'a little' currency union. Either they have a say in interest rates, money printing etc... or they don't. It's very cut and dry. The scots can use the pound, but that is different from a currency union. An example would be how Panama uses the dollar. The people of Panama have to...

    Independence...

I have no doubt Scotland would become successful in the long term, and short term would have oil revenues to prop them up. However, if they want independence then it's all in. Monetary union is not independence, just ask Greece and Spain how independent they feel having Germany force austerity...

    Independence...

I imagine infrastructure would stand, we wouldn't go ripping up buildings or roads, but the staff would move to Scottish health and police forces independent of the UK. The armed forces would be an interesting one. Obviously all our ships, planes and vehicles would be retained by the UK...

If this is a marketing ploy its genius. It's got even more people talking about the game.

Damn jealous, I love the Nighthawk. I've bought a couple watches in the last couple months though so I can't really justify another. I also worry the Nighthawk might be a bit big on my 7" wrist

Ive ordered from LongIslandWatch twice, had to pay customs once but not the other. Ordered from Ratuken (japanese website) and got stung for customs there too.

    Independence...

Sadly not. We would likely have to comply with standard international drawing of boundaries, which would give Scotland 90% of North Sea Oil. Would be an interesting debate to see. Regardless, Scotland won't vote for independence so it doesn't matter.
