Dear oh dear Ed Milliband, what a joke of a man !!!

I'm in favour of reducing benefits across the board, but I don't feel immigrants should be singled out. Most immigrants will contribute more in their first 4 years than school leavers, why should they not be entitled to benefits that young people enjoy?

I actually don't agree about curbing migrant benefits. The problem is not a macroeconomic one, it's widely accepted that migrants are net contributors to the exchequer, it's a microeconomic and social problem. Immigrants don't move to each area of the UK equally, some towns see a much higher...

    The Cricket Thread

I actually think most people will agree a discussion must be had. I'm not sure this is a question of banning the bouncer though, how many millions on bouncers have been bowled without such tragic outcomes? I do wonder if it may be possible to offer some kind of neck protection for players. The...

    The Cricket Thread

Horrible news about Philip Hughes, devastated for his friends, family and especially for Sean Abbott. A tragedy on more than one front. I wonder how it will effect cricket in general, will such a freak accident change the protection cricketers get or will the rules be changed?

Of the three featured people, the only one I feel sorry for is the haunted house woman. You shouldn't have to pay the bedroom tax if you're willing to leave but they don't have anywhere for you to go.

In general I think including those with disabilities in the general benefits debate confuses the issue, however this is an interesting example. I have a lot of sympathy with the kind of person you describe, someone who has maybe been a laborer all his life and now can't continue due to health...

Dear oh dear Ed Milliband, what a joke of a man !!!

I think a significant problem is the 'have it now' culture, along with a desire for 'keeping up with the Joneses'. People often talk about how they can't afford to live on benefits, but often the reality is more like they can't afford to live the life they want on benefits. Many want the big...

Sadly I don't think this is true. Sure people want an affordable roof over their head, but they want it in the area that they want, with each of their kids getting their own room etc... I don't have a problem with the 'bedroom tax' in principle, but the implementation has been woeful. Those...

    In Ear Headphones

I use Klipsch S4's, I'm far from an expert but they've lasted pretty well over the past couple of years and sound good to me. I remember them having quite good reviews when I bought them

Not really, once Scotland receives more devolution powers there won't be a many issues that affect all of the United Kingdom. If you think its acceptable for Scottish MPs to carry votes that only affect English voters you are in a significant minority.

Dear oh dear Ed Milliband, what a joke of a man !!!

I'm not sure I agree totally, if UKIP has 10 seats then they'll have only taken (at most) 10 from the Tories, whereas Labour could lose double that to the SNP. Any losses the Tories suffer to UKIP can be made back in Lib Dem marginals, it's unlikely that Labour could take 20 seats from Lib Dems...

Dear oh dear Ed Milliband, what a joke of a man !!!

Well the SNP would still only have around 25 seats and how could they justify their anti Westminster stance while sitting on the front benches? They could possibly prop up a Labour minority ala UKIP and the Tories, but I think this would be unacceptable to English voters as evidenced by the huge...

Dear oh dear Ed Milliband, what a joke of a man !!!

I don't see any way they join in an official coalition so UKIP wouldn't be part of the government but they'd support the Tories in some kind of arrangement

Dear oh dear Ed Milliband, what a joke of a man !!!

Labour are in trouble. The conservatives hold a 2:1 advantage in terms of second place in Lib Dem marginals, so when their vote inevitably collapses the Tories will benefit more. Also the SNP are expected to take 15-20 of Labours seats in Scotland. If we see UKIP take a few seats from all...

    The Price of Football

Not that I want to turn this in to a debate about the analogy, but thinking of it this way is part of the problem. Supporting a team is absolutely not like being allergic to other food. There's nothing stopping anyone from going to watch another team play, fans just choose not to because they...

    The Price of Football

I think a better lunch analogy would be someone complaining that Greggs is too expensive and should be forced to drop their prices because said person can't afford it every day. Its ok to eat at home (or bring a packed lunch, at which point the food/football analogy begins to break down)

    The Price of Football

I'm with this. Nobody has a right to be able to attend football matches, if the clubs charge a fortune and people can't afford it then bad luck, that's life. I can't afford a Ferrari but I don't blame Ferrari for that. The reality is that it's our supposed loyalty to clubs that keeps tickets...

    Rugby

I know a lot of good standard rugby players and a lot of footballers and the footballers are way bigger cnuts. Also just look at the way rugby players react to refereeing decisions for all you need to know about the game in comparison to football.

By that token what skill do you need to be a sprinter? Being an athlete is an ability in itself, on top of which you need to be able to pass, catch, tackle, ruck, maul, scrum and kick.

Barack Obama good president or not?

The Democrats controlled the Senate, House and White House for the first two years of his presidency, with solid majorities in both houses of congress. He spent that time on Obamacare, much to the anger of the Republicans, and they've made him pay for it since. The 63 seat swing from...
