    The decision to fire AVB

By definition any new coach represents change in the most literal sense when they go to a new club. But the word "change" as you used it seemed to suggest AVB was doing something more profound and far-reaching than that. Root-and-branch stuff. And for me the evidence simply isn't there to...

    The decision to fire AVB

I don't see any evidence that AVB's tenure was about trying to effect some kind of profound "change". > He wanted to bring in Moutinho and Hulk for €40m each on some of the highest wages in the world. Not exactly revolutionary to want to sign the world's elite players. > He played a...

    Tim Sherwood…gone \o/

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach Lads, let's keep the AVB discussion in the The decision to fire AVB thread here: http://www.glory-glory.co.uk/showthread.php/5989-The-decision-to-fire-AVB?p=541327#post541327.

    The decision to fire AVB

Aye, I think that would probably make more sense: > Paulinho, Soldado & Capoue - all established/now players - as coach's signings. > Eriksen, Lamela, Vlad and Chadli as DoF/Development/Real Madrid signings.

    The decision to fire AVB

I think that list should also include Paulinho as an AVB signing. At least that's what I've always assumed considering how highly AVB spoke of him & the Portuguese-Brazil connection. That would leave Chirches, Lamela and Eriksen as DoF signings, which feels correct since they are all young...

    The decision to fire AVB

Actually, my point wasn't so much about that as it was about honesty. I don't think AVB was honest with Spurs. I think he said what people wanted to hear without any serious intention or action to follow through. Fwiw, I have no problem with pragmatism > style. I'm not a snob about that.

Agreed - I think Moyes & AW are both there next season.

    The decision to fire AVB

This also puts me in mind of all the times AVB looked right in our eyes and said he understood the footballing traditions of Spurs and wanted to continue them. I happen to think that was a flat-out lie, except insofar as "attacking football" meant to him giving the ball to the likes of Hulk and...

    The decision to fire AVB

In all honesty that just sounds like more AVB gobbledegook. I've just checked AVB's record here: http://www.topspurs.com/avb.htm In the league he won 2-0 on 3 occasions, twice against Villa and once against Norwich. That's the same number of times we conceded 5 or more under him. If 2-0 was...

    General Transfer Discussion Thread

Re: Transfer Rumours Some of us would dispute that Lloris is that hot. I don't think he's at all irreplaceable. I think we paid £12m for him? If PSG and Monaco want to get into a bidding war I say sit back and let them.

    The decision to fire AVB

I'm really not sure about this "AVB had us solid at the back but we were no good going forward". First, because it's not really true that we were solid at the back. There was a lot of pulling down strikers' shorts going on and a lot of hammerings dished out. The memory of Ravel Morrisson...

That's precisely why I think Sherwood is probably Levy's #2 choice after LvG (or perhaps Ancelotti if he becomes available.) If Levy appointed the likes of Laudrup or Capello he would be open to the accusation of settling for sloppy seconds - it would be clear we didn't get our first choice...

I just can't help the feeling that nothing has gone wrong and everything has gone right for Liverpool all through the season. No sticky patch, goalmouth incidents falling their way, defence getting away with mistakes, strikers with a freakish conversion rate, blessed with injuries compared...

Clattenburg is excellent. Yes, should have been a second yellow for Suarez, but refs get abused for ruining games and not showing common sense, but when they do they get berated for that too. Can't win.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach I replied to your "my boy Tim" taunts last week here: http://www.glory-glory.co.uk/showthread.php/5527-Tim-Sherwood-Head-Coach?p=536767&viewfull=1#post536767 I don't give a toss about Sherwood except insofar as him being good or bad for Spurs. I'll debate...

I think almost everyone would take LvG. Problem is, when you say names "like" LvG there actually isn't anybody else "like" LvG. He is unique. So the question then is, who do we go to as second choice if we don't get LvG? Oddschecker has the next candidates: - Pocettinho - Rafa -...
