    Danny Rose

Rose basically spent his entire Spurs career, until Redknapp got his hands on him, as a central midfielder. He was obviously a winger at Leeds, so I'm not entirely sure what the thinking was behind that, but possibly because they thought he lacked the skill and final ball to be a winger...

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

Aside from how to boff a secretary, Palios knows sweet FA.
  3. bankrupt

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

Hodgson said virtually the same. Hodgson, on the other hand, didn't write articles in The Sun about which players he'd take to the Euros and which system he'd use with England, or get his son to talk up his suitability on TV.
  4. bankrupt

    Danny Rose

This. I tend to think that the more people see of him, the less they'll be impressed. Watched him a lot in the reserves over the years and, aside from tenacity and a bit of pace, he doesn't really have much to his game. Having said that, Livermore had even less in terms of raw materials and...
  5. bankrupt

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

Spot on. The situation is simultaneously hilarious and depressing. No idea what happens next.
  6. bankrupt

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

Just like Kevin Keegan, another motivational specialist.
  7. bankrupt

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

  8. bankrupt

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

Listening to Talksport, they're all in total denial. "This is just a ploy to smoke out Redknapp" and so on. Sound like jilted lovers.
  9. bankrupt

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

Journos wetting themselves because their mate has been overlooked. This is fooking hilarious.
  10. bankrupt

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

I actually think Hodgson is the far better qualified candidate, so maybe the FA have actually made a decision on that basis for a change. Most probably, though, they just didn't fancy the circus that comes with Redknapp and it didn't have a great deal to do with footballing issues.
  11. bankrupt

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

Redknapp only has himself to blame. Not only have his results been shoddy since Capello left, but blabbing in the press about the job every week, writing columns about how he would sort the team out, getting his son to cheerlead for him, etc. have shown exactly the lack of class and dignity that...
  12. bankrupt

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

This would have been a problem whoever the coach was, even Redknapp. In fact, it would have probably been Redknapp's undoing, since his solution would probably have been to find a way to accommodate all of them. We'd probably have been back to a central midfield of Lampard and Gerrard.
  13. bankrupt

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

Why? If he is bold enough to start shunting out the old guard, bring in young players with lesser egos that will be open to his ideas, he could be very successful (in England terms). He is a good manager, well-suited to the international game, and has experience at that level.
  14. bankrupt

New England manager = Roy Hodgson

Pure comedy. Chuffed for Roy, though.

    Harry Redknapp: The Aftermath

How does that explain the slump at the end of last season?

    Stephen Pienaar Debate

It certainly must be demoralising to know that, however well you play in a game, you're going to be dropped as soon as the guy you're standing in for comes back.
  17. bankrupt

    Stephen Pienaar Debate

All managers have favourites, and marginalise others. The one closest to not having favourites, in Spurs terms, was Ramos, who picked his teams based largely on how well players had worked in training during the week. He got criticised loads for incomprehensible selections and too much...

    Harry Redknapp: The Aftermath

I don't actually believe that Redknapp's teams play 'off the cuff' football. Neither do I believe that the double winning team did. I just don't think Redknapp is too concerned with the details. That would be fine, if he was employing coaches and staff that did that for him, but it doesn't...

    Stephen Pienaar Debate

You don't think the evidence of Pienaar's form after joining us, then after returning to Everton, Redknapp's reluctance to use him and Pienaar's eagerness to leave at the earliest opportunity support the possibility that Redknapp didn't fancy the player. I do agree that no player has probably...

    Stephen Pienaar Debate

What, you mean you don't think Levy pursues and signs players on his own initiative? Plenty of evidence that he does.
