    Our scouting network

Re: Broomfield I honestly don't see much wrong with that. A while ago FM or CM was the best tool around for keeping track of where players are and their ages etc. The database was really good and quick to use. I doubt he means he scouted them by playing FM.

Re: Broomfield Thanks for the compliment. I have actually thought about a blog, but never got round to it.

Re: Broomfield Again I think you are being overly critical of our recruitment and not being fair comparative with other clubs. You mention Man Utd signed Hernandez, but is he even really good enough to start for us? Also during the three year period I mentioned in my original post, Utd signed...

So now the journalists have got the quote they were looking for.

Re: Broomfield I agree with this, but I actually think we already have a pretty excellent set of scouts. No one's is going to be perfect, but if you look at the players we've signed since Pleat was brought in by Sugar, given the wages and transfers we've spent, we've actually done really well...

    Our scouting network

Re: Broomfield This is the key point I think fans probably get wrong. I seriously doubt it's about discovering or spotting players first. The economics of football are just stacked against this. It's in the financial interest of anyone involved in profiting from youth football to make as many...

Re: Broomfield This issue's with recruiting the best young talent from anywhere in the world go way beyond scouting. I doubt many top talents slip though the net due to lack of scouting, yet this is usually the reason cited.

***OMT - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs. READING - OMT***

I didn't show the video to illustrate Lennons game, but to show the kind of chances he creates when he does. These are very typical Lennon style chances. He doesn't have a great cross. H's at his most effective when getting past a defender and either laying it across the goal for a striker to...

***OMT - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs. READING - OMT***

That assumes that people in football aren't effected by what pre conceived ideas anymore than you or I, which they most definitely are. Also, it assumes that a manager is just looking for a wide player who creates chances. There are other areas to a wide players game. I wouldn't doubt the...

***OMT - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs. READING - OMT***

Is it known among our fans that Lennon is statistically the most effective chance creator in the entire Premier League? People go on about how stats don't tell the whole story, but thesedays we are seeing more and more detailed stats, that do give us a much more clear view of how our players are...

    Hugo Lloris

Haven't said Lloris isn't better. I don't know, as like the vast majority of I have seen very little of him. But I do know that I don't trust the opinions of others, based on years of reading message boards and thus being aware that fans often rate or don't rate players based on very little.

Eh? What happened last season then? We actually finished in the CL places. So far this season Brad certainly doesn't seem to have deteriorated, so i can't see the logic in what you are saying.

But come on, if he's easily got him for pace, surely you'd want him on from the start? According to Whoscored.com Harte is the LB that has been dribbled past the most times this season. To me he seems like Lennons dream opponent. Lennon has had the successful dribbles of our players and his key...

    Hugo Lloris

Because he got criticized by many of our fans and it was crazy. You have to be really determined to find fault with him for that goal, but lots of our fans did. From what I can tell it was due to the fact some say he should come off his line more. As a result every time the ball goes anywhere...

***OMT - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs. READING - OMT***

You don't want to see Lennon against Ian Harte? I agree that sometimes Lennon would be more effective coming off the bench, but feel he should start most games and certainly when he will be up against a slow 34 year old.

    Hugo Lloris

What some Spurs fans consider to be a mistake by Friedal wouldn't be considered a mistake by most other people. The WBA goal being a prime example of this. A lot of Spurs fans tried to blame him for the goal and claim staying on his line was the wrong decision, but more objective judges wouldn't...

The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

I don't think the problems were with his his attitude. He may well have had a poor one and may have thought he had already made it, but these things are insignificant compared to the sheer lack of quality I saw in him. I think's it much more likely that he was an amazing athlete and at at youth...

The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

When he was joined us he played in one of the international youth tournaments that was on Eurosport. I was stunned at how brick he was. He was hyped as the next big thing, but he was not even one of England (I think U17's) better players. We signed him a few months earlier and were all told what...

Of the Reading team that played Cheslea, I've never heard of 6 of them! The five I do know would struggle to get named in our 25 man squad. I thought Ian Harte had retired.
