    A Word for the Defence

I thought this, but I saw a stat a couple of days ago that says that the majority of the chances we concede to the opposition are from our left, and it got me thinking. I think Dawson was brought back into the team to help improve play down our right, and balance things. The stat about where...

    Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale Thats not strictly true...Van persie has always been a striker in some form, he just developed from being a support striker to one that leads the line. The skillset that Bale has is prefect for playing as the central striker, but he would need to change the way that he...

***Tottenham Hotspur vs West Brom*** Official Match Thread

As much as I have concerns over the performance, I have a feeling that Adebayor is going to come back into the team now and play alot better. The way the team was setup in the second half is suited well for him: most of the high pressing comes from the 3 players behind him [holt, bale, lennon]...

    Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale At the end of this match I did think that Bale was performing more of a Hulk-like role in the team.

    Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale Yh, by the looks of it thats the plan, only i think that Benny bein back means we can have natural attacking width from both full-backs, so bale is now more free to cut inside from his starting position on the left [which happened in the second half today when holtby came...

    Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale I can't help but think that the reaction people on here have had to Bale's performance tonight hints at what went wrong last season, and what can be the frustrating thing about bale. He's an amazing, unique player, and he very definitely knows it. The problem is that he thinks...

    Hugo Lloris

Erm...sorry if this is a bit pedantic, but arent there always World Class keepers? isnt being "world class" relative to the stat quo? Granted, the phrase gets overused a great deal, but I think its being harsh to say Joe Hart is "nowhere near" being World Class; how many keepers can you name...

    Mousa Dembele

Re: Could Dembele be our No.10? It works in theory, and in a few games on FM, but unfortunately not in the Premier League...Fulham tried it when he first arrived, and he wasnt very good at it. A good goalscoring record in Holland appears to be much like one in the Championship.

The Guardian's Top 100 Players in the World

Wtih stuff like that I can kind of understand it...i think the logic is that Joe Hart would be higher up in the rankings of goalkeepers than Modric/Moutinho/Sneijder would be in their respective roles, with the major gap in places being filled by more players in different roles.

Which position do we need to strengthen?

I dont think we necessarily need a pacy forward/winger, just someone with good movement off the ball...our front 6 are all FAR too static when they dont have the ball, and thats why its so easy for people to sit back against us. As much as I love Lennon and am impressed by his improvement this...

    Sandro - Beast

Re: Sandro - Legend I dont think its that, more that the post would have you believe that Sandro doesnt deserve his place, as if we could pluck any ball-winner from the championship to do the job. He obviously has his faults, but he is clearly a very effective cog in our team...the stats and...

I do wonder how he helped Pardew out...maybe it was him who gave Mike Ashley a nudge on those massive contracts...

    Mousa Dembele

Re: Could Dembele be our No.10? I agree that Sandro and Dembele shouldnt be split, but Im not so sure about Dempsey...playing dempsey seems to be like playing another striker, which I dont think is a real answer to breaking teams down. I think we need someone who can position himself 25...

    Mousa Dembele

Could Dembele be our No.10? On alot of Tottenham blogs and forums I've seen people calling for Parker to be brought in, allowing Dembele to move up to the position off of Defoe...would this actually help us unlock defences though? IMO dembele is a good, direct, purposeful passer, but as far as...

    O/T The Offside Rule

I think this will still cause complaint imo, simply because the moment something happens it has an effect. If a player standsd in an offside position in front of a goalkeeper, but doesnt get the ball at that moment, he has still affected play by either distracting defenders or the goalkeeper, so...

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs SUNDERLAND - OMT

The Guardian's Top 100 Players in the World

Would you still place Modric at 80 when you consider that oscar is at 37? I think the whole list is a bit confusing...Maybe its just because of the different positions being included, but I really dont see what Oscar has done to be at 37 while Hazard is only at 58, or what Ballotelli has done to...

    Andre Villas-Boas - Head Coach

I think its a bit unfair of people to keep placing so much weight on the first couple of games...regardless of who was in the team, i think its clear that they are only just beginning to grasp what it is that the manager wants from them, so I'd put those early shockers down to adjustment. At the...

I wonder whether its something more to do with United being untouchable, as opposed to Fergie himself. United have always played a huge role in football in this country...just look at how quickly any english united player is fast tracked into the england team. Maybe. In any case, can you imagine...
