Circus ManUnitus - Nobody's At The Wheel

Sky in full-on feeding frenzy mode on United this morning.

Despite what some of our supporters think, it doesn’t just happen to us.
It is thoroughly enjoyable to watch when it's one of the other "Big 6" clubs who are making these sorts of headlines. Hopefully, we can get a bit of momentum because it's been us for far too long.

I know its always enjoyable when they sack their managers, but I actually prefer it when they rally behind the manager and refuse to bite the bullet. Ole, Ten Hag, Amorim all lasted way longer than they should have... if they could just stick with Carrick a little while longer then this season will be another right off lol

At least until the Jan window closes
Personally from an objective viewpoint (and because I’ve always liked Carrick as a player and a person) I hope they hold the executives and the players to account for a change.

Changing manager again isn’t going to change anything in the long run. They needed a good clear out of mediocrity in the summer and all they bought was more of the same. They needed a complete overhaul of their defense but more than anything the players need to stand up and say “I am just as accountable as my teammates and can do better”.

Maybe a week in Marbella?

What was it Neville said last season? One of the big 6 being relegated will be good for the league. Way it’s shaping up both Manchester clubs could be heading that way

United are the same as us. Need a class dof who comes in and say this is who we are. This is how we play. Gets the players/coaches/youngsters that fit that identity. Knots it all together without being worried about players downing tools or game by game results.

I can't believe they haven't hired Levy to run the place yet.

It's really toxic there now! Just hear the shift in atmosphere as soon as Carrick goes into the tunnel! Lovly stuff.

So Carrick is staying on for the game at Stamford Bridge. Their next games are Roma, Villa and @Liverpool. Not exactly a good sequence for job saving performances. If they're not sacking him now, they'll probably leave him in for those games

And they'll be in the relegation zone by the end of that run...

This definitely isn't Carrick's fault - the club is all over the place. The owners don't give the manager the right support or environment and the dressing room seems to be full of back-stabbing egos. He should never have got the job but you can understand why they had to offer it to him after last season. Shows the risk of bringing in an interim manager - it happened to them with OGS and now it's spectacularly backfired again with Carrick.

It's all thoroughly enjoyable. I'd rather it was happening to Woolwich, Chelsea or The Dippers but I can still enjoy Man U falling apart.

Not games you want to be bringing in a new manager for, bad start and the torches and pickforks are out straight away.
This is not a reprieve, it's a stay of execution.

I genuinely think they’re in a tough spot for attracting anyone else that’s obviously better. Because they aren’t moving like a top club anymore in the market. They’re losing out to us on players for financial reasons. I think the best managers look at that and decide to stay clear. Conte won’t do it, would be very surprised if Nagelsmann does. Howe is about the best they can get.

I do feel for Carrick. I think a lot of the criticism he has is that it doesn’t look like he has a style of play coming together. This criticism of anyone that doesn’t play a possession system sort of bugs me because it’s almost say that a counter attacking system cannot be viable longer term, and I think it can. It also worked well for United last season. I just don’t think they have the players to do anything else. Their centre backs are slow, their keeper is average, they can pack the midfield and send Mbuemo on the break.

So I think Carrick is doing what he can and unfortunately Bruno is deciding to be a terrible captain and go into business for himself. But whether it’s the debt or just Ratcliffe’s view on how business should be done, they are not competing in the market and they are repelling good managers. Ratcliffe reminds me a little bit of Levy, and I’m not sure it’s gonna fly in 2026.
