Sorry. 927 is when Aethelstan became the first ever King of England. So 1110 years next year since that.

Brunenburgh was the last time the Celtic nations united to confront England, but the end result of that was actually the cementing of English identify. The SNP-CUP-PC meeting this week just reminded me a bit of that alliance, and that actually their future secessions would be the catalyst for forging a new England.

I wish. The amount of solar radiation from the sun has been decreasing over the last years, as expected. The earth should be cooling but it is not. The Milankovitch cycles would have in a cooling phase of the interglacial but we've bucked that trend with our greenhouse gas emissions.

That the doomers think the AMOC collapse might balance out climate warming is bollix though.

I am not denying AGW but the non human earth systems like the key milankovic orbital variations are built in and will not be switched off.

There will be more ice ages and with equal certainty there will be further independence inside the UK.

I never said that. Sure, there may be more ice ages at some far distant future , but there is a non-zero chance humans will be extinct by then. The cooling effects of the present Milankovitch cycle is being overridden by anthropogenic climate change and on its current trajectory the warming will tip us into new, ever-worsening equilibrium states that we will not be able to reverse. If some of these earth system tipping points are crossed they will become self-perpetuating, and it won't really matter what we do then. The effects will last for potentially thousands of years. So yes, for all intensive purposes, we have effectively reversed this coming ice age

'Collectively' is the problem at the moment. Whether it's the bat brick crazy people we have in some of the top jobs in the world, or masses of just angry, negative, miserable people. That's not a mindset conducive of 'helping'

I used to love the idea I once heard "if everyone replaced one present request at Christmas with the present of peace we would have it by now", that always stuck with me even if it is abit miss congeniality. But I the same applies here, if everyone sacrificed something small and fairly meaningless to make a pledge to a better planet we would have been there alot earlier than needing drastic changes

Intents and purposes.

Anyway listen for whatever reason you took me task for this bear in mind we can all reduce our carbon footprint.

We won’t be breaking systems but it is the length of that system to react to the sudden influx of CO2 that is unknown. it won’t be 10,000 years though and that is how long before the next ice age will be due.

Regardless, what we should all be doing is reducing our carbon footprint. Having just done a personal audit I was pretty appalled how much of theyvfootprint is accounted for by food even as a vegetarian - to the extent I cannot immediately accept that exceeds my heating nor travel.
