I spent hours and hours practicing that technique when I was a kid, after watching Branco score a couple of similar ones, although his run up was more straight, like Roberto Carlos, and when you hit it perfectly, the ball appears to curl slightly as it would using the inside of the foot, then it starts curling the other way.
It's was an unbelievable feeling when you pulled it off.
Only managed to score once in a game though.
