Saudi Sportswashing Machine f***ing with us in return for us trying to prise one of their crown jewels away?

Had to scroll to page 3 to find Archie’s thread. He seems to be very comfortable in his captain role.
Interesting that RDZ spoke with Ben Davies first before awarding the captaincy to Archie (for these pre-season games).
I am enjoying the RDZ approach.

Players are not positions.

I think it’s fairly obvious Gray will move into a midfield position when we are in possession, and back to RB when out of possession.

It’s more important for him to have regular minutes on the pitch than it is for him to play occasionally in his preferred position imo.

He's not going to get the minutes in order to develop in that position. The best he can hope for is Cup games and that we qualify for Europe next season.

Not so true when the game is now 95-100 mins long and we have 5 subs. You can almost see Gray being involved in every game. He'll start a few at centre mid and RB and he'll certainly finish loads from the bench.

Exactly. And evenmorseo with the rules the rules for GKs and throw ins and subs leaving the pitch to keep the game moving.

I think because a lot of us on here are of a similar generation, we still think in terms of the 90s/early 2000s, when the ball was only in play for 60/65 minutes.

This season will see the small rest periods from above disappear, so squad depth will be essential.
There will very much be a game plan with players being "starters and finishers".
