Djed Spence

Not everyone is getting involved in that line of enquiry, some are keen to explore the reasoning behind the pile on that seems to continue.

Personally I think the whole thing is built on some fairly fluffy reasoning TBH. His attitude being questioned comes down to:

- A spat with Warnock, which from memory was one way, so not sure its a spat
- Not shaking Franks hand when the majority of this forum thought Frank was a tw4t and also MVDV didn't either
- Being a fake roadman

People jumped on the bloke when he first joined with the narrative being "he is a club buy" which then turned into "he is trouble clearly behind the scenes"

*Edit - Just searched and some of the tripe about him written makes you laugh when you go 10 pages deep of it

*2nd Edit - only comments I can see from Djed about Warnock are below and TBF he is fair and again TBH it makes sense

Edit 3 - Going by the comments by Leeds in public, there is no issue, I know people used that as an excuse, but they said otherwise.

In conclusion and I think the last of it from me (I promise) people have decided that he has an attitude problem for a few moments like the handshake, his personality which doesn't gel with their own ............. and just because.

Personally as a Spurs fan I am delighted in the turnaround and the fact he is in the England fold, it represents something positive for the club that should be celebrated, not torn down

Sorry but what is a "roadman"? A Jack Kerouac sort of character?

I think some of it is related to him blanking one manager on the pitch and then sarcastically tapping another on the shoulder when substituted off.

There's been a stigma around him for a long time mate. People say he keeps 'dodgy company'. When I point out that some of the dodgiest company you can keep in football wear suits and are white, it seems to quieten the argument. If black players (and people) don't fit certain accepted behavioral patterns, then it looks to me mike often they're usually tarnished with some cliche or another.

Which is his prerogative and like I said he doesn’t need to apologise for it whatsoever. He is who he is and is allowed to express himself any which he pleases. But in the same token you cannot expect people to take to him like Harry Kane, Som etc.

As abhorrent as Joey Barton is he too is entitled to his dim views, it’s about freedom of speech and accountability. If people don’t take to Djed spence due to his personality then it is what it is … you are not going to be liked by everyone all the time.

I just wish he applies himself better on the pitch because no one is doubting his potential and skill set.

Totally agree that if people's opinions on him are about personality then yes, as is, everyone is entitled. And I think many many times, that opinion gets formed on his appearance and cliches assumed because of that.

But can we not just go case by case, player for player. I loved Timothy Atouba back in the day even though he was a liability, it certainly wasn’t because he was black. I just think it’s so lazy to throw the race card or some religious card into the equation when people on this forum at least are not even questioning that and rightly so.

I think it’s got to do with his actions and it’s allowed to have people have a dim view on them cases without it being for any other reason than just that.

Sure you are right there are many crooks in the business dressed in suites from all colours, but again why bring in the colour?

I actually think it dilutes the genuine abhorrent racism things that happen because people will just say “here we go again” … it’s lazy and not helpful in countering genuine cases.

As far as religious views are concerned … that can get in the bin as it’s like me poking fun at someone who loves Harry Potter pie in the sky!

His race and religion gives him less of the benefit of the doubt. That is just the reality of society and not just a football issue. Doesn't mean Spence is without his flaws as a pro and as a player.

But he has also very clearly turned that around. Hes gone from being sent back by Leeds to starting games at the World Cup in a 2 year period.

Saying that.....I would cash in lol

If we did it would have to be for a decent lump of money.

Agree. Although the way the finance rules work you would be better off selling a player that's been at the club for 4+ seasons for less money than a player whos been at the club for 1-2 seasons for more. Example we would be better off selling Spence for £25M than Danso for £30M as an example.

Basically any player that's been here for 3+ seasons and is not a guaranteed starter should up for sale. With Spence Everton wanting to pay £25M. I think we would need to be closer to £35M.

Yeh, there is no chance he is only worth £25m

Personally I haven't seen any real attitude problems on the pitch, he's just a more laid back character which can look 'cool' when you're performing well but when you're having a poor game or run of form it doesn't help to be that way inclined.
Reminds me of when Walker was in goal - his reaction to conceding a goal was a 'oh for fudges sake' smile, and everyone thought he didn't care.

I really do not care what colour he is or what GHod he believes in and anyone who does needs to give their head a shake IMO. I just think his attitude is not the best and that is why i have spoken about him.

I have also said he has talent their is no doubt about that.

Be glad you aren't on Twitter mate. Loads of folks there who abuse him every single week because of being a) black, and b) Muslim.

Not trying to get political, but the overlap between those geezers (if they're even real and not bots), and the folks who vote for Rupert Lowe's dog-and-pony show is probably a circle.

Yeah but why don’t we ignore the noise that we are not currently engaging in and dragging all of that bollox into it and discuss what’s before us on this forum.

I still can’t see anywhere where someone on here has posted anything about his race or choice of fairytale.
