+++ OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland 12th April 2026 +++

I have supported Spurs for many years and seen some very bad teams. I was at WHL in 71 when Arsenal won the league title but the last couple of years has been excruciating. This could be the season where my worst nightmare actually comes true. For lots of reasons the team and supporters I hate the most is Chelsea. When I was a little kid my family was split between Spurs and Arsenal. My Dads side were Spurs but my Mums side were Arsenal. My Dad was more into cricket than football and my Mum wasn`t interested in football but her brothers(my uncles) were Arsenal supporters so I`ve never really had this rabid hatred for Arsenal that maybe I should have had.

For lots of reasons in the early years for me supporting Spurs games against Chelsea were horrible. This was in the days of very bad violence at games and the journey to and from the game could be a scary experience. I`m sure any Spurs supporters from those years of the early 70`s to mid 80`s will know what I am talking about.

So this year if the Chelsea game is the one that confirms we are down and Arsenal go on to win the title will for me be the worst season ever supporting Spurs. I will probably have to pull a sicky at work rather than face the brick I will have to take. I have seen us relegated before but it was nothing like the the consequences for the club will have now compared to all those years ago. The financial hit, the ability to attract top players, it will be a total nightmare.
Still until it is mathematically impossible to stay up COYS

The thing we have to consider right now (and it occurred to me watching Emirates Marketing Project destroy Chelsea) is that if Arsenal win the league and we are relegated, the 4 points we somehow took off Emirates Marketing Project (that will likely represent at least 10% of our total points total for the season), will likely be the reason why.

I was watching them today after watching us at Sunderland and I'm thinking: how in GHod's green earth have we taken 4 points off these? Just fu*king HOW?

Whilst we’ve only taken 4 points off those Woolwich Wanderers in the past 11 games :oops:

Agreed.

I don’t think Frank has any redeeming quality at all and looking back was an abomination of an appointment. It’s like it’s been some weird conspiracy by the club, the media, and everyone else that has glossed over just how bad he was and how bad the performances were.

Everything De Zerbi is saying now is about confidence. And I think Frank destroyed the confidence of the team by effectively saying last season didn’t matter.

I listened to Christian Purslow and Henry Winter on their podcast yesterday. Purslow knows Lange well, and made the case that RDZ is the first real full time appointment of this management team. For a few seconds I thought ‘yeah, fair enough’ but then I remembered no…this management team stuck with Frank 3 months too long. This is absolutely on them.
 
Ive been defeated since January tbh. We just dont have a good enough squad without our best 2 creative players out all season and no manager can get a tune out of whos available.
We have a shocking group of forewards.
I mean Solanke is an insult to the word "striker". Richy is a one game in 6
.

We have half decent youngsters yes. But we seriously overate Gray and Bergvall. Gray is giving me Harry Einks vibrs, and Bergvall is a few years off becoming a top player.
 
we looked better playing from the back, transitioning into attack and breaking opposition lines

a few players let us down tremendously:
- richarlison - should have scored from at least one of two clear chances. may be a nice guy but zero footballing IQ, zero strength, don't know how any spurs fans want him in their line up.
- porro - he is a bully with lightweight players but just sheer afraid of bigger ones. gets fooled too easily by a faked cross. we were so flimsy down that side. can he be counted on in attack? so many wasted set pieces and crosses...very low productivity
- solanke - probably playing to instructions by staying high, but could have dropped back at crucial times to make himself more available and to split the two CBs
- muani - plays like a 16 year old, just wants to hog the ball even though he can't get past the defender repeatedly
- romero - stuck in a 1990's football rules time loop

i believe that de zerbi doesn.t know the players as well as he claims and hope he is able to make the necessary changes.

on the plus side - i thought grey, gallagher did well. was the lack of options and ability of the folks in front of them to hold the ball that affected their play.

vdv, udogie OK but can't play with richarlison up top who keeps losing the ball and is unable to help track players in defence

Kinski man of the match for me. His passing out the back was tremendous. Unfortunate for the goal and injury.

We did and are improving, its a good sign
