Wilson Odobert

He is indeed a CF, he played quite a bit at RW for Franfurt but hes never really been a LWF which is where we've shoehorned him in to the team recently to his detriment.
agree with this, not sure why he's been played out there offers little, again would rather square pegs, put Odobert there (or Tel!)

Massively impressed on how he's come on this season. Some credit to Frank. Odobert is tricky. But needs to nail his final ball. Weight of pass, passing behind players...but his build up play has been excellent. Looked like Odobert and Porro clicked - understand each other.

Similar with Udogie and Spence actually. Obviously just in its infancy, but they seemed to compliment each other. Spence also suffers with his final ball/shot, but his build up play and committment, as well as tracking back, is first class.

Best game I've seen him play for us and on the right of all places. There's an element that makes me wonder if the Dortmund RB was just that bad, but Odobert had the beating of him every time. He didn't have the hesitancy that he often demonstrates on the left. I've not been a fan of his RW performances up till now but this was avery promising go.

Agree, best game I've seen from him, and his passing from right was very good.

Perhaps he's our Kudus rotation and we buy another LW?

For me that hesitancy has been decreasing over time.

It may be that their left back just wasn't very good, but I think it was mainly him getting set up in decent positions - particularly in the first half.

I don't remember him having to receive the ball on the half way line under pressure facing the wrong way much. I do remember him receiving the ball facing the right way fairly high with some space to attack the full back.

Imo a couple of both impressive and promising performances from him against Dortmund and Burnley. Two assists against Dortmund, one against Burnley. Some decent shooting on display even if he didn't score.

Gave his full back a tough time in both games. More periods/phases than consistently throughout the game, but still.

Excited to see if he can keep this up and/or improve further on that in the coming weeks.

Good to hear he's maintained a positive performance after Dortmund. Is he showing more physical strength in your opinion (i didn't see the Burnley game at all)?

When he drives with the ball with confidence and pace, like he has done in the last few games, I see a little bit of Aaron Lennon in him.

Not entirely sure on physical strength. More the lack of hesitancy discussed above. Think it's also partly getting the ball in better situations. Maybe a bit stronger now, but for me more that his lack of physical strength is less of an issue when set up well and being more direct I would guess.

Thanks. When you say he's getting ball in better situations, do you mean our other players are looking for him earlier and passing it quicker to him when he's in space?

The disappointment i had in the second half vs Dortmund is that we didn't continue to get him the ball to run into sopace against their full-back (who i felt he had on toast at times in the first half)

Yeah. Getting the ball in a bit of space, also space to take on a player rather than there being immediate cover.

We essentially had more good/decent attacking play against Dortmund (particularly first half) and Burnley. Giving him situations he likes and thrives in rather than situations really only Kudus in form has thrived in.

his general play is poor if he doesn't get to go full speed chasing the ball
many passes too slow or a behind the recipient, and he doesn't get back to pressure or defend much unlike spence
definitely a highlights reel player imo

Making his former club long to have him back…
