Kevin Danso

He's the perfect 3rd defender, good enough to come on in an absence and there is no significant drop in defending quality. He's also reasonably able to play both sides, he's a great squad member and I'd have no concerns honestly with him taking the starting Beth in the long term if selling Romero made financial sense.

We need better distribution, however in terms of penalty box defending he is hard to beat.

While maybe totally stand out I think his distribution is decent. He's closer to Romero in that regard than say he is to Dawson.
He does the simple things good, and in my view it's better to do that, than try to play above your ability. When you're already at this level, normal is enough. No need to try to be flashy. Playing out with a simple pass, but doing it properly, is better than failing at a Hollywood pass.

Wholeheartedly agreed.

I like the fella and he's been a great addition. Proper centre back and seems a super fella on top of it all. But he is a bit clumsy. You wouldn't feel comfortable defending high up the pitch with him. This is not a dig but he's more Harry Maguire/Eric Dier than Micky van de Ven/Virgil van Dijk.

In the right team, which we are at the moment, he looks excellent.
The funny thing is I think he looks like he's a bit clumsy BUT never is. In fact he shows some nimble footwork at times.

He got rolled quite badly by their CF at one point in the first half and couldn’t really recover. Do that against a Haaland or Isak and it’s likely a goal. Don’t want to be too hard on the lad, he’s been a great buy.
Were a couple of times he struggled against Beto physically. More used to being physically dominant in duels and not so used to those situations where it's reversed or similar strength. But probably some he can adjust to.

Been a really good and important signing. Still a step down from Romero/VdV, but that will almost always be the case. He can be trusted to put in good performances when called on. And really exceptional at some things.

I can name plenty of times VDV and Romero have been done defensively with basic mistakes, it happens to the best of them. Also not sure anything is likely to lead to an Isak goal since he's pulled on the red jersey :)....

I bet that you look good Kevin Danso
I don't know if you're looking for Romero or
I don't know what you're looking for

Dancing to electro-pop like a Roberts from 1984
Well, from 1984

That's fair. Romero is a top player but can do things that leave you scratching your head. VdV has been magnificent, particularly recently, but can be awkward. All players have their limitations.

Just don't want people hammering Danso if he gets skinned a few times or has a bad spell. We're blessed with the 3 CBs we have. Probably the best selection since Jan/Toby/Dier.

The thing I like about him (beyond just being very good) is that he has shown he can come in from not playing for weeks and just slot seamlessly in putting in very good performances in what is arguably one of the most difficult positions to come in from the cold usually needing time to develop a relationship with your CB partner. Top signing.....

Tonight, for the second goal, Danso should have leapt into Woltemade's body/face/legs/arse and put him off, rather than stepping away.
I believe Kinsky must have called for it, since Danso didn't challenge at all, but he still should have leapt at Woltemade and made life difficult.

As a CB you don't always have to win the ball, you just have to leap towards it and make life difficult.

Wotemade had his hand in his shoulder, so he couldn't really get the leverage he wanted for the leap. Very smart CF play to give him his credit.

I guess that is all part of being a CB. As the older and wiser player, Danso should have trod on his foot, pinched his spine, pulled his shorts down, bit him on the belly button and pulled his curly perm, way before Woltemade had chance to put his hand on his shoulder.
