The Cricket Thread

I don't think it's clever, but needle at a high level pressure cooker of international sport is perfectly fine for me

The problem is nobody knows where to draw the line and when it all kicks of everyone is disgusted by the incident. It's a do what you f****** like world and you must never challenge anyone on their behaviour.

I don't agree with that TBH, I think people can be pulled up for crossing the line, giving each other abit of chirp isn't that IMO

Root is the greatest batsman ever to have walked the earth. Is it even a discussion?
I've already upset one person today so no disrespect to you take off those rose tinted glasses. Tendulkar, Lara. Bradman just to keep the Aussies from having a meltdown. That's 3 without even thinking about it

Putting your arm around a batsman as he walks off for being dismissed is well beyond a bit of chirp, and Duckett did extremely well to stay composed there....

Tendulkar played on flat tracks. He doesn't even smell roots shadow
Thanks for making me laugh

Bradman who many consider the greatest batsman off all time never played in India, WI or NZ & only played in one series in SA. He basically played in Australia or England does that mean he can't be considered as the greatest off all time.

Root has a hole in his cv it is called Australia 14 tests in Oz hightest score 89 average 35 that is not great. Tendulkar highest score in Oz was 241 not out & a average of 53.20 that's pretty good don't you reckon. Hopefully Root tears it up in the upcoming series & we win the ashes on the back of it. Then maybe he is in the conversation for the GOAT.

For those interested the Schedule for the ashes
Perth, Gabba day/night, Adelaide MCG & SCG. they have changed the first 3 tests around. first time the Gabba is a day/night test. Looking forward to going to the SCG

In my view its impossible to compare sportsman from differing eras, so much has changed in the world, travel, rules/laws, equipment, fitness, standards of opponents, media, pitches, coaching and finance. I'm a firm believer those who reach the top in their careers lifetime would have got there in any era and we should just enjoy them while we can.
