I can’t believe I voted for Vicario instead of VDV for POTY. He’s elite and every club in world football should want him, but they can fudge off.
 
i am expecting big bids to come in for vdv soon.
if we want to keep him we'd better start playing in the champions league regularly
 
Agree, anything record breaking for a cb for sure. Vdv is very special imo, speed and eye for goal makes him outstanding and may even rewrite the role for a modern cb.

Of course I'm hoping he will stay with us for a long long time. Maybe do a Kane 10 years later if he doesn't win anything by then

People forget bitching that he was the club "being cheap" and going for "plan B" ..

VDV isn't going anywhere, he was on very few clubs real radar a year ago, he's had a brilliant season for us (our defenders will get far less credit due to the team's defensive failings), my expectation is the club will probably offer him a new contract shortly.

If next season matches this and Spurs actually manages to cut down the GA, then he might get some more noise.

Did people really bitch? Tapsoba was the guy we got linked with initially but a great deal wasn't known about either defender.

I think your memory is a bit fuzzy and you're thinking about Vicario who was the one the fans thought was the cheap inferior option to the reported prime target Raya.

In the end both guys we went with were good choices.
