Exactly this. Ange's system means you don't need to be a tricky dribbler or a long range smacker or a tricksy player, you just need to be in the box as the balls come firing boxward, and divert them on target*.

*Note Maddison had a very poor shot that was going well wide, it bounced off a Brentford defender and right into Richy's path because Richy was standing in the right place. At the right time.
That is what we needed more of; more chaos. In the first half we were very slow and too precise, in the second half Udogie charged forwards and bundled through and his shot was half blocked but fell right at his feet for a tap in. Any kind of shot causes panic and makes defenders flail at the ball, for 1 or 2 poachers to mop up.

**Note also that the CROSS from Werner to Johnson is what I and others have been calling for, getting it wide early to a runner (Werner or Johnson) to FIRE it across THE CORRIDOR OF UNCERTAINTY for the poachers to CAPITALISE from. When we say "cross" some posters on this board interpret that to mean crossing high and slow onto the heads of the centre backs, that is not what we mean.

This last bit of your post is why I struggle to understand how we get the best out of Deki.

Werner will use his left to cross. So will Son. Deki could have crossed and shot at points with his right last night and didn't. The man has bags of talent but we need balls fizzing across the six yard box not a third or fourth jink and twist.

I'm not about to join the "tell Ange how to do his job" phalanx but surely this needs addressing - our attacks stall at his feet a lot right now.

Yes, and the lino thing is going to create another mess for the FA

Every game now (happened Wednesday), the lino fails to flag a blatant offside, the ball goes out for a corner and they give it, what happens if the opposition scores from that?

Back to Richi, got the PL MotM for Wednesday supposedly.
