    The Ale & Beer thread

Well I don't have a clue either, but now I know what a demijohn is, and I want one. I'm due a birthday present, so I dropped a hint yesterday about a homebrew kit, and the answer was not a chance. That's not the answer I was hoping for, but I'll order a kit online and play dumb. I'll almost...

Well there are many. Ethan Shone on openDemocracy has some good stuff on this if you want to dig deeper.

Unfortunately that's not what the UK has. FPTP in a two-party system gives fairly predictable, if somewhat skewed, results. When other parties start closing the gap results can be quite chaotic. I've seen some predictions for the next UK election which illustrate this point (I'll try to find...

It seems to me that the current government is largely under the sway of lobbyists, and it is their agenda that is being enacted. Labour core voters are fast becoming disillusioned with this lot and will certainly turn elsewhere, potentially fracturing the left even further. This would be OK if...

Thank fudge. It looked a bit complicated. That is way simpler. I'll report back on quality if and when I get tinkled on it.

The sun is having a moment, too. Plummeting prices will strand all FF investments in the not-too-distant future.

Brilliant. I'm definitely going to do this. So something like this kit to get going? https://molloys.ie/collections/beer-making-kits/products/copy-of-beer-making-kit-brewdog-punk-ipa We might need a home brew thread.

@Baleforce mentioned it a while back, and I'm going to try to make it. What's the worst that can happen? I turn into a mutant that is half tomato half man? Sure, I can just become a superhero if that happens.

    American politics

What I find curious is that the WSJ is drip feeding Epstein scoops, but another arm of the Murdoch empire, Fox, is trying to talk about anything but this.

I so want to do that. Can you point me where to start? I've loads of tomatoes just starting to come out. I'm thinking I might try making wine from some of them.

I grow a bit of my own too - not enough to make much of a dent in my food bill. It is more of a hobby, and a learning exercise for something more expansive in the future.

I'm finding the food bill crazy too - easily my biggest expense. I have two human food compactors as sons, who I'm sure have singularities in their stomachs, which doesn't help. Crop yields are also down globally, which is another factor putting pressure on prices. A bread basket failure or two...
