Danny Rose

what does disappoint me about this is that he has been here so long but he doesn't get it, we're not going to make big signings, we can't compete financially with the richer clubs, he's tinkling in the wind

VDV and Davids became big signings because it worked, we can't forget that they had been passed over by many others when we got them on the cheap

our success has come from targeted investment in undervalued players, we shouldn't blink now

Rose in his interviews has always told it how it is. I don't buy into all this media nonsense, if a player wants to leave you can rest assured his agent is doing all he can to engineer a move and clubs will be aware of this. What is said to the media is irrelative, it's not like clubs will now think oh well he's said that in the papers we should try and sign him now. He would have been sounded out a long time ago. Interviews like this make no difference to him staying/leaving....
Actually, it's probably a lot like that. Now it is in the public eye for fans to see it's near impossible for him to stay at the club. Wouldnt surprise me if his agent or United told him to do this interview.

We are like a load of old men moaning about the weather.

It's show biz folks!

Agents, media and money is all part of football today.

It's been.ike for a long while. I still love it 'once' the kick off whistle blows!

He didnt suggest that's what we should be doing - he just referred to players who he's heard of so doesnt need to google their name. Then he gave Ross Barkley as an example who fits the undervalued description you gave.

My thoughts:

I can't see him wearing the shirt again, the fans will boo him to bits.

He could have dealt with this better and then going to The Sun about it is worse.

Saying the truth isn't always a good thing, actually it's often the wrong thing. And I think this will be the last we see of him with us.

What a shambles.

If he plays again and fans boo him the they have proven his point IMO

Fans can't be fickle and not expect the players to remember it

I didnt say that there were. There were some comments a few weeks ago about our senior players being asked to say things publicly about us not needing players, effectively to therefore try to take the pressure of our transfer activity....which I guess is understandable if Levy/Poch realised a few weeks back that we wouldnt have anyone in by now. There were then comments, such as those above, which come across as saying that bringing players in this summer isnt important

Interviews or press conferences where a player says something interesting are rare. I would expect all clubs to have a media management strategy where only senior members of staff are authorised to talk about transfers. We also have a manager and chairman who prefer to keep things behind closed doors, so we tend to be a little quieter than most others. I do not see this as a bad thing.

Oh and if you're going to Utd just ask Shaw what it's like to be the escaped goat, or let's see how good you look playing with a back line of Jones and smalling

On the subject of Shaw, getting him and Fosu Mensah in, call it £30m and £20m, and selling Rose for £50m to Utd might not be the end of the world. Brings in a young wing-back type similar to Rose but a lot younger and a up and coming CB who is comfortable on the ball. Might be the best chance we have of bringing players in

Embarrassing behaviour from Rose, supposedly one of our 'senior' players.
Might be enough for Poch to fudge him off and we can earn another $50m to reinvest.

He knows how it is and is not looking for the club to change its transfer policy. As you say, we would not have been able to compete for the signings that would have improved our team, this summer, if we had wanted to. His agent is trying to engineer a move.

So just to add, I would not boo him but him going to the papers about this is a low move. It is very rare for any player to do this and undoubtedly will disrupt the harmoney in the changing room literally 3 days before our first game. Poch will be absolutely seething as will Levy.

The fallout will be interesting, will the club comment on it today? The press conference later will only be about this.....

Right,

So if you are upset with your company and think that they lack ambition and employ nobodies, would you shout off about it so that your employers would read this or hear this?

If you did, the likelihood is that you would be sacked. Rose cannot be sacked as he is worth millions, we unforunately, are not worth anything to our companies (unless you actually are). But he is absolutely wrong to do so and shouldnt have done it, regardless of whether you agree with what he actually said or not so he should either shut up play sub to Davies and we can then sell him next year.

The difference being is that there aren't a number of companies out there willing to pay you twice as much for doing exactly the same thing.

Fosu has gone on loan unfortunately and i was never that sure about shaw. But then i wasnt totally convinced about danny until poch came along.

It was exactly the same with Walker and it getting stirred up during the run in. I can see this agent being very unpopular at the club.
