Alli isn't exactly the easiest player to make the move for. He's rather unpredictable and often goes for the high flair, high risk pass or nutmeg or whatever rather than the easy obvious pass. A player still settling into the team not making what you think would have been the right move in a single incident is hardly all that noteworthy imo.

I also think Janssen is quite focused on getting goals. He's looking for opportunities for himself to score. Call it selfish, but considering the pressure on him as a striker to score and some of the reactions to what he's done so far I can't really blame him for it.

dont agree with the last bit of this post. that he is aggressive in his pursuit of scoring goals for me doesnt come across in his on pitch actions. i think he can be significantly more aggressive in his runs and positioning to get goals

I think the fact that he took the shot rather than try to lay it off for Ali shows that he does still have confidence. Strikers are selfish almost by definition. If he sees an opportunity and goes for it, then as they say, it's only selfish if he fails to score. Score, and no one cares. (A bit like Dele with Son last week). The more chances he creates the more likely he will score.
Poch seemed happy with him in his post match comments and said he will have more opportunities to play. If Poch is happy with what he is doing in the short time being given to him, then that makes me think there is definitely more to come.

Yes - there was also a high probability of a pass to Alli being intercepted. Only thing you could criticise him for was going for the near post, given that if you go far post and the keeper parries it then Alli has a tap in

It was a good strike but I think he should have shot across the keeper to the far post as @AdamB mentioned.
I thought he was brought on to do a job (hold up the ball - waste a bit of time) and he did just that.

He won a number of fouls for us yesterday but off the mark he seems soo slow and looks like he is constantly sprinting just to keep up
 
Two good cameos in a row now. He seems very effective at holding up play and either feeding back to our AMs or drawing a foul. A very different option to Son, but equally as useful.

He looks quicker/more mobile than he did earlier in the season and has visibly shed a stone or two. Poch and the team have clearly been working on him.

I thought he looked quicker too. Im sure after a season of Pochs' training we will begin to see a step up. I wouldn't mind us persevering with him as an understudy for another season personally, I think this seasons' experiences will stand him in good stead....

Other than players who have already played in a similar system (Dortmund, Athletico, Liverpool), I think most new signings are going to take a year to get up-to speed with us. Replacing Janssen with another Janssen will just mean another year of that.

I'm not sure that applies to Sissoko though, as I think his flaws are too fundamental.

This entirely, I thought we 'game managed' that last 10 minutes really well, and he was very instrumental in that, winning some vital 'time-hogging' free-kicks

He hit it absolutely sweetly. Forster being 6'7" is probably one of the only GKs in the league who could have got a hand to it. 8 times out of 10 it would have broken the net.

Kane seems to score a lot near post.

The logic for shooting far post has always been that any rebound could fall to one of your supporting players running in, whereas at the near post it will always go out of play. I don't think the success rate of shots to near post is necessarily less.
