You know, I really am not so sure. I love it that Poch (and by extension our club) conducts himself gentlemanly and respectfully. However, that's not consistent with what's happening on the pitch -- Spurs are becoming a dirty team. Is that a bad thing? I really don't know. I don't mind hard-but-fair tackles...and going in late at the end of a hard-fought game against some of the most skilful players in Europe isn't such a horrendous thing. But Alli's punch, Dembele's eye-gouge...for me, that's not what I want Spurs to be about.
Perhaps I should be happy that our manager leaves it on the pitch. But part of me wonders what would have happened if Poch had been "directing" the refs and media to look at other teams, in the same way that Mourinho and Fergie used to do. Might Leicester have had fewer penalties? More cards?
The old Spurs (well, in the 25 years that I've been a supporter) didn't have that problem -- you can afford to be gentlemanly if all you're going for is the odd cup. But now...would I take a league title in exchange for my club being more tosserish, both on and off the pitch? Probably yes, but it'd lose some of the magic that is Tottenham Hotspur.
At least we're not Chelsea or Emirates Marketing Project.

So I've calmed down since yesterday and felt ready to post. Yesterday was a disappointment, and I have no doubts that this team will learn. There is no doubt in my mind that our players were provoked before, throughout and after the match. BUT, I don't want to see our team act like they did at points yesterday and specifically I'm talking about Walker's kick, Dembeles gouge and Lamela's treading on the hand. For me it was about letting the occasion take over you and we played into Chelsea's hands. Without that, their crowd was quiet and despondent. That's the way it should have stayed, but we gave them something to roar about.
Having said all of that, I'm not going to hold that against this very special team. As I have said, they will learn from this experience and I hope that we go on to secure that second place this season. I look at this bunch of players and to a man, I think it is completely reasonable to expect more from them. Add in some players that offer different options and our squad will be better allowing us to perform better. When I look back on the season it is clear to me that the reason why we did not win the league was not what has happened in the last 2 months but rather what happened in the first 2 months. We look a completely different team to that team that started the season. Those draws which could easily have been victories would have been the difference. We can all point to the Saudi Sportswashing Machine game etc.... but there will always be upsets in every season.
So what was it at the beginning of the season? Firstly, I think it was just that we had a young team that was getting used to playing under Poch's system. I also think that losing Dembele was quite pivotal. And then of course there was Kane's lack of goals and the fact that we had no real option aside from him up front. I'd also probably add that Eriksen was not on full form at the beginning of the season either. Point 1 won't be an issue. Points 2, 3 and 4 can be remedied by some clever purchases. Whether it is an old head, a player in his prime or more youngsters, I don't care. I think our scouting is more often than not right so I would have faith that whoever we brought in would be able to do a job.
I am so, so, so, so very proud to be a Spurs supporter. Leicester have done great, and fair play to them. They were the best team. But our team have not reached their potential either on or off the pitch. In Levy, we have arguably the best chairman in the league. In Mitchell and his team, we have one of the best scouting teams. In McDermott, we have one of the best Academy directors in the land. In Poch, we have one of the best managers in the land. In our players, we have one of the best squads in the land. The one common ingredient across all of that is that they all have a lot to prove, and are all relatively young still. That potential is scary. I have the pleasure of working with a number of Chelsea supporters who were full of glee and happiness today. Bothered. I know who I would rather be and who I would rather support. I would not swap our position for anyone else's and that is the GHod honest truth.
A great man once said: "It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory." Bravo that man. Bravo this team. Bravo this club. COYS

Was saying this the other day. How incredibly 'sexy' (Sorry to use that term!!) is it that in the one year in GHod knows how long, Chelsea, United, Emirates Marketing Project and Arsenal are brick enough for us to win the league Leicester appear from absolutely nowhere and win it!!

You know what, I'm actually fine with that. I want us to win the league when everyone is having a great season by us having the greater season. That'll truly shut everyone up, especially anyone who would say we were lucky to win because everyone else was brick. And as for Chelski, I would rather beat them at the Bridge when they're good, rather than when they're having a subpar season. We saved it for next year.

Granted, but the point total at the start of the season was much lower than at pretty much any other time. Put very simplistically, we hadn't won in the first 4 games, our longest sequence of no wins. I just don't see that happening again with this team as there was an element of them just getting used to a new style.

I know everyone is saying this is a young team, but when you have a coach that all the youngsters look up to you would expect his words to carry their weight on the playing field too. Which kinda makes me wonder what kind of pep talk Poch gave the team before the match and at halftime. What I would have expected him to say, especially since we faced similar tactics in the West Brom game is "Play our game, beat them soundly, and make their misery even worse. Focus on the prize." But I have a hunch that wasn't it. I love the guy, but I can't help but place a good portion of the blame on him too.

This had crossed my mind about Poch as well on Monday. I know he does not tend to publicly criticise players but I did not get the impression he was overly mad at them at all, far from it. Yes he jumped in to prevent Rose getting into a brawl but that was right in front of him and instinctive, and of course he could have had no idea that Clattenburg would let things escalate as much as he did before starting to book players. I think he did psych the players up to play a tough game, to draw on their anger at what the Chelscum players had been saying and to make their mark. Unfortunately it did get a bit out of hand and once you start on a certain course it's easier said than done to pull back from that mindset mid-game. I said earlier that our young players will take a big lesson from this game but hopefully so too will our young manager.

Frankly, anyone who does not think Poch won't refine the edges hasn't paid any attention to how he operates...as for the attitude on Monday, over the line or not at least he knows he does not have to pysche this squad up and that they have each other's back. Sorry, ANYONE who says that Dier's shocker on Fabregas was 'poor'/etc doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever!

We lost our heads a bit. We looked young and inexperienced at times (because we are). But we didn't roll over and die when the going got tough.
Nothing that has happened at other very big very successful clubs, and with fantastic player. Nothing Pochettino can't, as you say it, refine.
It might not have been a necessary step in our development, but it can certainly be seen as a step in our development. Striking a balance by erring on both sides a couple of times and then learning from those errors.
