I was trying to be even handed and was hoping to snub out an argument before it started

Minority Report-style Pre-crime isn't necessary in this case, mate: I have no intention of engaging with the poster in question. I will probably, however, fail to adequately contain my sickening disgust at what has just occurred, and cussing will likely be involved. If that draws more squealing posters like him, railing on about 'moaners' and no doubt getting off on the delight of bring able to once again proclaim their superiority as a fan, well, that's life, I suppose.

Maybe, but we probably didn't expect to be 5 point from the top with 9 games to go. Poch adjusted for the Fiorentina game, picking almost the same team as tonight. Other than that, there's not much he could have done to prioritise the league earlier on. But how the season has unfolded, it make sense now.

Their in exactly the same position as us and they didn't rest anyone

Hahaha all the people overhyping dortmund

You don't have to be one of the best in the world to beat a mdifield of Carroll and Mason, Chadli up front and Onomah in behind

West Ham beat our best team FFs! What did we expect fielding this trash line up? It was obvious, we got torn apart and completely outclassed. Anyway at least we have an amazing trip to.. er.. Villa to get the juices flowing on Saturday.

I thought Poch himself said we have to respect each competition? We surrendered tonight. Waved the white flag. If any of you ueber positive guys think waving the white flag is good enough, more power to you. I think it was disgusting and embarassing.

I'll save judgement until the end of the season. If we win the league or run it close, I think that tonight was probably the right call. Even if we got through this leg, and I agree with @Hootnow that is probably something like a 1 in 3 to 1 in 4 chance with our best team, we still had a long way to go to win the competition.

Either we take this fudgeing competition seriously if we are ever in it again or we fudge it off from day 1 and just use it for the kids and for players to prove themselves, just whats the point of all the games just to keep fudgeing tossing away the cup after the group stages.

Everyone says the same thing at the end of every fudging Europa season.
Then as soon as the next season starts it all goes out the window.

3 days before drawing 1-1 at Chelsea in the league we go away to Qarabag
Lloris
Trippier Alderweireld Vertonghen Davies
Dier Mason
Son Alli Eriksen
Kane

What the fudge were we doing? For this? to drop all our physical players against a Dortmund?

3 days before the the NLD we put out this line up against Anderlecht
Lloris
Trippier Alderweireld Vertonghen Davies
Dier Mason
Lamela Alli Eriksen
Kane

The team away to Monaco before we draw at fudging Swansea
Lloris
Trippier Alderweireld Vertonghen Davies
Dier Alli
Lamela Eriksen Chadli
Kane

In what competition do you play a stronger team in the earlier rounds?
We didn't drop 9 points in the league after Europa games to pointless field an under-strength side against Dortmund.
Except we did the same thing every season. Treat is half arsed

Because he has had to keep the squad playing so as we could be second in the league going for the title!!!!!!!

He needs to know what he has at the top top level, jesus, he needs to be able identify what he needs next seasom when we come across the Dortmunds in CL!!!!

Steff mate, come on. He didn't need this match to realise that Mason and Carroll is not a suitable pairing against any top team. Nor that chadli is a suitable striker against any half decent team.

I'm on my phone and doing something else at the moment so won't be able to able to reply to everything tonight unfortunately.

As I think someone else said, I'm at least glad we had this tie at this stage. If we're gonna treat the competition in this manner, I'd at least get knocked out early rather than doing the same thing jn the semi and tiring ourselves out into then.

That my issue

You make your priorities clear early doors and stick with it

You either have a good enough squad or you don't!!!

Playing a side that is less suited and weaker as we play better sides seems really odd

It means we've only got 10 matches left over the next 3 months.

Good!

Losing this and Palace has really put all our eggs in one basket.

Under normal circumstances ( Spurs being 6th/7th) I'd agree with you, but these are not normal circumstances. We're second in the PL behind Leicester, not a Chelsea or a Emirates Marketing Project!
Happy in this moment of time to put all our eggs in the 'pursuit for the PL' basket.

In theory it could be like last season again, when everything fell apart during the course of a fortnight.

But that's how it often ends for teams in pursuit of the major prizes isn't it?

Let me know how that works out for you when we end the day on March 13th second in the Premiership. Still.

How do you know what they can do unless you see?
Look, how many changes were forced on him anyway? Alli suspended, Dier absolutely knackered, Kane in need of a breather, full-backs always rotate. That really means his two biggest changes were CM. There has to be something going on with Bentaleb as I thought he was a shoo in. Enter Mason and Carroll. Mason is good when with a Dier, but not Carroll. And sadly, Carroll just wasn't up to it.

We are ahead of our development really, and as such, he is learning what he has for double, triple tilts in the coming seasons. If we finish top 4, as we absolutely should given our record, what a season. If we took the title, mental!!! But sorry for tinkling people off/having them ignorantly calling me a 'happy clapper' but I see a longer term plan and not a moment.

Sounds all very fine and dandy to be sure but any manager who's not prepared to adapt to the circumstances he finds himself in wants shooting imo.

How are you supposed to know at the beginning of the tournament that United, Chelsea and City would all fudge up big time and the only team above us come mid-March would be Leicester-fudging-City?

We knew before the knock out started exactly where they were and we were didn't we

Awful performance, hoping it doesn't destroy our confidence and thus the season! Big call from Poch and one imo he got badly wrong..............wtf is the problem with Bentaleb?????

Why is Tom Carroll playing ahead of Bentaleb please? In a game clearly requiring some graft. NB has international experience and can play physical. I'm not sure what TC's game is. He's not even tidy on the ball.

Probably because his form has been better this season.
