I think he's too ambitious to drop down to an uncompetitive second rate league.
Only players chasing cash over career would drop down like that, especially during (or not even at) their prime. It would be comparable to moving back to the Eredivisie for him.

You have a view that differs to reality in terms of the first priority of most footballers. Money talks unfortunately.
The only good news is that we all saw the ridiculously over-inflated fee that PSG paid for David Luiz.... So if PSG do come knocking for Ericksen then any price we set will take the Luiz fee into account.

Eriksen seems like a smart, down-to-earth, guy.
Bale, Modric, Berbs and co all ultimately got lured by the glory. I can't remember a top player we've lost because of money before.

Apart from Scumbell, Carrick is probably my least liked player that left us. We managed to turn him from a West Ham plodder into one of the most cultured English midfielders of his generation.
Admittedly it took a while for us to work out what to do with him, but when he had his chance with us, his career sky rocketed.
And then he lifted his skirt for the first bigger club that took an interest. And his career has stagnated since.

Even with the late match winning goals I'm not seeing him play to anywhere near what I'd consider his potential but I don't know why. Maybe it is fatigue as we've all seen how impressive his running stats have been but his touch like many players was below par today, although United's pressing was impressive.
It's a tad concerning as with Chadli away, Eriksen looking tired and Lamela injured most likely taking him a while to get back up to speed once he returns it's hard to see where the creativity or even flash of brilliance is going to come from as Kane won't do it week in week out.

I think Superted was employing a wonderful mechanism of communication called 'irony'.
Like 'truth' in times of war, it's become a casualty of digitized communications. If he'd said that in a pub and let out a snicker behind his pint glass, you'd have grasped it better. But here, in the arid environs of an on-line forum, it's shrivelled and died within seconds of its utterance.
But you weren't to know that because there isn't a keyboard symbol for 'snicker', is there? Good job with the stats, though.

Pre-Spurs, the clue is in West Ham.
Post-Spurs and while the club he plays for has achieved great things, but I don't think Carrick personally has fulfilled his potential.
He's been behind Barry, Parker and Walcott for international caps, didn't make the last WC squad and only ever played one WC game.
I don't think he'll go down as one of Man U's greats.
So in that, I don't think he's pushed on from when he left us and is still a good player but not great. I.e. Stagnated.

That's not really his fault, he should have been in ahead of one of the two golden boys Lampard and Gerrard.
