Roberto Soldado

Nice low cross for Rose' goal, just the sort of chance you'd hope Soldado would be finishing...

But the poor fella is clearly suffering from some bad goalmouth juju...

Right wing forward please. The guys far too intelligent not to be playing if possible. He creates for others and his all round game has differed. Just tell him to pass instead of shoot and we will be okay.

Everyone in the wall turned their back where's the stick for them? The ball wasn't even going near them and they still turned their backs on it. Players generally do now, as long as their aren't avoiding the ball I don't see what the problem is,

Got two assists tonight.

When is he gonna start scoring? It's not like Rasiak whereby his all round game is utterly sh!t and he looks out of his depth in the PL, it's just his finishing. Tonight really summed it up.

The funny thing is most top clubs in Europe would snap him up in a heartbeat, you can take away confidence but not ability and in the latter he has LOADS of it. Sadly the day we signed him gut feeling just said it wouldn't work out :(

Please GHod, or anyone for that matter, let him get a lucky break.

On a free transfer maybe.... There aren't any takers at the moment wanting to pay even half what we did for him.

I don't think he would work there personally. I think most full backs would have him in their pocket.... No real pace, no trickery or dribbling skills. Yes he put a good ball in last night for Rose.... That doesn't automatically make him a wide player. Remember also that if playing wide for us his starting position would be further back. He got that pass from Stambouli last night because he peeled off the shoulder of their centre half.

With Lamela injured and Lennon seemingly on his way out, that's far from a silly suggestion.

I'd actually like to see more of him and Kane reversed (they did it one game IIRC) - with Kane at #9 and Soldado at #10 (and Eriksen left).

I'd rather have Chadli there than Soldado.... I'd probably even rather have Paulinho there than Soldado.

I think Rose's run there is the exact runs that Soldado has started to avoid making to ensure that he isn't on the end of another missed chance.

Apart from the run that he did make to miss his sitter last night, you mean? ;)

Overall, his performance was decent. And an exquisite pass through the eye of a needle to set up Danny Rose.

In what way do you see Soldado beating an opposition full back? Generally a wide player does so with pace or dribbling skills - Soldado has neither in his locker.

I can't remember what game/games it was... but I distinctly remember balls being flashed across the opposition's 6 yard area with Soldado hanging back and not trying to get on the end of them.

Not in a 4-2-3-1. Walker will beat the full back. Soldado would occupy the triangle between FB, CB and DM. The David Villa or even vdV role.

I'd probably prefer him as a straight #10 though

They were all pussies on that free kick. Soldado gets the brunt of it because the ball came off him. The problem is if you turn your back then you lose control and also because the ball hits when turning its more likely to come of at speed and at a weird angle because of the whiplash effect. One of the first rules you learn at school when defending a free kick in a wall is never to turn your back, basic stuff, school boy stuff.. like playing to the whistle.

If that ever happened i would call for Poch out. People get mixed up with solid interlink with 'exceptional performances' or great intelligence.

People continue to exaggerate all that he does well and I think we just need to realise that whilst he should be used in certain games and could assist Harry Kane up top - this summer he needs to go and we should take whatever we can for this complete and utter flop.
