Sandro - Beast

Really? I thought Poch was our current coach, has it all gone wrong already?

Just had a look and the last two on the list of all THFC coaches were Messrs Sherwood and at the last line was a guy called Pochettino.

Both of which have left a post-injury Sandro out of their matchday squads

I fail to see how people don't think Sandro could be doing just as good a job as Capoue is in that position alongside Bentaleb.

Sandro is the ultimate destroyer/tackler. I want to see him get some playing time soon.

1. He seems to have a king term fitness problem.
2. His positioning isn't great.
3. Capoue is a much better passer
4. Has a weird personality that could be disruptive to the squad
5. Wrong nationality for Poch ;)

I really do like Sandro but he is more suited to a defend first, attack later type of team. For the football we are trying to play we need a ball playing cdm who is comfortable on the ball.

1. Not sure I agree, he came back from an ACL reconstruction in six months and then played a decent amount of games last season. He had a rest over the summer too.
2. The ground he covers in the middle of the park to break down play and make top quality tackles suggests his positioning is fine.
3. Maybe but neither are in the team for their passing. As long as Sandro gets it to a nearby playmaker I'm fine with his passing standard.
4. I think he is one of the best personalities in the team/squad. People like him, he settled quickly and he oozes positivity.
5. I assume you mean the Braizilian/Argentinian thing. If Poch is that pathetic, I'm disappointed especially as he picked that buffoon Paulinho the other night.

admittedly, it is a luxury to have two high quality players for each position and/or function but with the number of games we have and if Capoue ever got injured, Sandro would be an excellent replacement provided he can get back to the levels he showed prior to his injuries. i think Capoue was bought for that very reason as we suffered when there was no relatively like for like replacement when Sandro first got injured..

I think he could do just as good a job. I do think his passing is somewhat worse than Capoue's, but he has other attributes that makes up for it.

I would be very sad to see Sandro leave. But at the same time I understand that it might be the right choice. For me that's not just about being good enough, but more about the mix of players available to us. Sandro next to Bentaleb might be very similar to Capoue next to Bentaleb, but Sandro next to Capoue looks more limited. If we can replace Sandro with Schneiderlin we might have a situation where any 3 out of him, Bentaleb and Capoue works very well - that's not even getting to Dembele yet.

Our squad has been lacking balance - much of a muchness. Some tough choices to be made about who to keep and who to sell. If Poch thinks that Capoue fits his style better and that a more versatile option than Sandro as a backup for Capoue would be better for the team I would get it.

1. Has Sandro ever managed to go a full season without a serious injury? All I remember of him was his being injured
2. Don't you think that the fact that he needs to covers a lot of ground and regularly requires last ditch quality tackles indicates that his positioning is not all that good? Carrick rarely needed to do either...
3. What sort of convoluted logic is this? EVERYONE is in team for their passing, starting with the goalkeeper and the defenders. This is especially essential in Poch's system.
4. Really? To me a personality was Ledley or even Daws. Do you believe the other players are impressed by "the Beast is watching you" shenanigans or his hair and beard do's??
5. To ridiculous to address... it was a tongue in cheek comment from Modric.

Sandro will leave for the same reason as Daws - Poch does not see them as fitting into his system, probably because of their passing limitations.

Spurs' Sandro 'unlikely' for Napoli
By Football Italia staff

Sandro’s agent said it’s “very unlikely” Tottenham will sell the midfielder to Napoli, as “they always ask for big money.”

The Brazilian has been tipped as one of the candidates for Napoli this summer, along with Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva and Espanyol man David Lopez.

“There are no positive developments,” his unnamed entourage told AreaNapoli.it.

“It’s very unlikely Spurs will sell Sandro at this moment, as time is running out and they give negotiators precious little room for manoeuvre.

“We can’t talk officially about figures, but Daniel Levy always asks for big money. If he doesn’t receive what he’s asking for, the player will remain in London.”

The source was asked why Sandro had been dropped from recent Tottenham games.

“Evidently it was a coaching decision. We are almost at the end of the transfer market, so it’s unlikely anything will change very soon, unless a club accepts Tottenham’s terms.”

It seems the only thing keeping him at the club is Levys demands and that the coach doesn't fancy him. Makes me think back to that goal against Chelsea when Harry went mad at him as he couldn't hold his position. Maybe he struggles with instructions that are specific to the Poch system.

Thanks KD.

That reads like brinkmanship to me rather than a confirmation that he is staying
