I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

Re: Official - Lamela

I see no reason to believe the "not actually injured" speculations.

Are you guys really saying that Lamela has gone back to Argentina for a couple of months(!) mid season in a World Cup year essentially taking himself out of contention for the World Cup squad and he's back home with no one picking up on it? Is he sitting at home eating his mom's cooking with an old girlfriend over to give him a blowjob from time to time too scared to go outside in case people start taking his picture?

Surely, by now, if he had actually gone back someone with a camera phone somewhere had gotten a pic of him? Or some journalist would have picked up on it? At least that seems much more likely than not, thus making this speculation rather unlikely to be true.

Also interesting that essentially whenever he comes back at this point those who speculate this way will see that as something that fits with their theory. Out for half a season - sure, no problems, still fits the not actually injured theory. Back in a month? Same thing. Had he been back a couple of weeks ago, same thing.

As has been pointed out, a footballer getting injured seems much more likely.

Affy, I was going to reply but braineclipse has got there first and put it better than I would have

Re: Official - Lamela

Let's hope he gets it that way around...

His ex is a terrible cook.

A potential reversal of the roles of cook and blowjob provider between his mom and ex-girlfriend and the poor cooking is your primary reaction...

I now understand the "seedy" part of your nickname a bit better ;)

And I would understand Lamela having an injury of the mental variety....:-#

really?

who said he had gone back home though? i didnt actually say that.....him being sent home, that was one option

saying he is injured is the other one...

not necessarily saying that he is injured so that he can then go back home.

clearly him being injured cause they told us so, lies told in past not taken into account of course, is the easier and much more obvious answer...i just dont believe it really

You only have to look to the previous page to see people suggesting that he has gone back home. More suggestions on previous pages iirc.

Who isn't taking lies into account? Saying that it seems much more likely that he's just injured doesn't mean that we're not taking the possibility of other stuff going on into account. Although I can't think of many examples comparable to the one Lamela is in at the moment where the club has just lied about an injury to give the player time and the player has gone along with that story quietly. Particularly in a World Cup year like now. Is Lamela really happy to risk his World Cup chances by not being involved in first team or reserve football for months?

On the other hand you seem to be ignoring the base rate of how often players get injured. I can think of a lot of examples of players getting injured, and of players picking up a new injury when returning from injury.

Occam's razor deals with the rest.

That was the joke Brain... This is a black mark for you (not racist) on my 2014 GG awards spreadsheet, luckily you're still in credit for fielding Affy's conspiracy theory.

I didn't actually think you thought Lamela getting incestuous blowjobs would be fine ;)

It's not like you're from <insert area of local rivalry close to you>...

Re: Official - Lamela

If he was in Argentina we would know as there would've been pictures up on the internet and the press would be having a field day. Remember how quickly the images of Paulinho training in Brazil surfaced?

The guy is just injured and for all we know his thigh could've always been masking his back. My physio told me that in some cases a lot of injuries build up but the problems with the core muscles is usually the starting point, this could be Lamela's problem. This is of course pure speculation as I'd have expected Roma's physio's to have picked up on it, but if the guy has always been over compensating and his back has been weak for a while then the injury to the thigh could've been the thing to bring it to the surface.

ah right, you were talking of someone else with regards to him going home

only you quoted me and i thought you were referring to my post

hey listen, no one is saying that you are right or wrong. i just dont believe the story and i am not really ignoring anything..why did you say i was anyway? i dont need to..actually you know what...never mind....forget it , i think i'll just end up with more words stuffed into my mouth

to conclude my part on this mini topic....have a gut feeling, one that your kind of logic is allergic to / doesnt agree with, and i dont think that all the injuries are legit

I didn't actually quote you mate. I replied in the thread making points relevant to several posters present views similar to yours.

I said I thought you were ignoring information because it's a pretty common thing to do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_rate_fallacy

I think you should at least consider that if Lamela picked up an injury and then gotten another injury during his recovery you would have found the exact same conclusion as you do now you think they're faking the injury story. Then consider how often footballers pick up injuries. I couldn't see you taking this into account.

I have no problems with people having gut feelings, or just point out that they think the most likely explanation isn't true for whatever irrational reason. That's not quite how the ideas about his "fake injuries" have been presented though, it's been presented as if it's the most likely explanation without any actual rationality backing that up.

gut feeling

dont think he is injured

it seems like you werent even talking to me in the first place...so i'll bow out nicely. tip me hat so to speak

the last paragraph clearly doesnt even relate to me then as i haven't said its the likely explanation...just reasons why i have this gut feeeeeeeeellling

edit:- maybe its a thing that you think my focus is to argue my way needlessly through a point even if i know i am wrong? dude it really isnt so if one thing happened to contradict the theory i would pretty much say so and raise my hands on the matter. i always do ...so its not like one of those things where...if one thing happens then i'll be like 2i was right" and then cover myself in case something else happens and then say "i was still right...HA!!" ;)

i really dont know why i found that funny

Re: Official - Lamela

What are our doctors and physios doing exactly? Is it too much to expect them to nurture and monitor players through their recoveries without something avoidable like this?

This is incompetence - pure and simple - on an asset worth 30 million. I wonder how many other industries would accept such a situation without any form of accountability?

I have been saying for ages our entire medical staff should be replaced. Our players almost always seem to be out much much longer than the original injury would seem to dictate. There does seem something wrong there somewhere.

Re: Official - Lamela

The club should hire Ossie as a mentor for the guy, have him around the club to give him support and help him understand about Spurs and also lend an ear as he knows how hard it is to move from home

Maybe he already is in his spare time.

I remember Cliff Jones used to do the same for Bale as much as he could, supporting him and telling him not to be so harsh on himself.

Re: Official - Lamela

No doubt if we sold Lamela and brought in another young hopeful they would struggle to settle etc. Then again getting a run of games might change that
