ENIC

yeah i get that, i just think if it were purely business then they'd most likely had sold us on by now (at a fairly decent profit) as the work load required now that City and Chelsea are on the scene doesn't match up to the possible returns.

and anyway - in financial times i think we're better off with financially minded people running the club ;)

My guess is that no one has matched their valuation.

I agree that there is littlebin it for them in trying to compete with the clubs above us. The cost of doing so would be astronomical and there is little chance of ever recouping it.

My guess is that they are reasonably happy where they are and that taking the next step up might not increase their return on their investment. Planning permission and funding for the stadium probably wouldn't hurt though.

What it cost them to buy the club + the money they've put in. Yes, they have actually put money into the club.

And what they put in they will get back 50 fold, should they sell right now. Or maybe they could do he right thing and sell for 200m cheaper, to enable to get the stadium done. They have done more than alright over us with there investment. But lets face it... you only have to look at the stub hub $hite to realise there moral fibre is that of a stray dog with rabies and they don't care about anyone else really, just as long as they get every single last penny they can get. As I have said many a time Levy and Enic are no real difference to the American bloodsuckers at Utd.

They like Utd do not want to use there own money.. Enic to make the asset bigger and better with large investment, whilst Utd owners do not want to use its own money to actually buy the club.

If Enic pumped in 200m into the club for the stadium there investment should be tied into future sell profits.. They would easily recoup that investment in a future sell. But with Enic they want everything laid out on a plate, with zero to little input themselves except time given, whilst there original investment becomes 100 fold (yes I made that 100 fold up to make a point). I say b)llocks to that, they have made enough out of us being Custodians of our great club already.

how many people do you think are willing or able to buy the club and pump 200 mil of their own money in to the stadium?

where does the idea come from that someone else would do that?

re Stub Hub - i may be confused as to what it does but isn't it just fan to fan selling tickets. i know people who use it for every game and rarely pay more than face value - seems better than looking for a tout outside on the street?

I appreciate your frustration superhudd but the world has changed, they are not custodians or our club, they are the owners of their business

also, many many sports teams around the world are partnered with stub hub, it's not an Enic operation

The world has been changed because people have let it. Time to take back. Yes I realise this isn't just an ENIC driven problem. I would like all sports clubs go to a Bayern style philosophy where those in charge are custodians, another is the Green Bay Packers NFL team. The people that benefit from success should be those that put the most in, not one or two people.

Emailed the ticket office today inquiring about the size of the season ticket waiting list.

There are approximately 45,000 supporters on the season ticket waiting list at present.

Ten years ago there was no waiting list, in fact there were fears that the club would fail to sell all season tickets.

It's not ENIC's fault that Man Utd and Arsenal have used their CL money to create and keep a wages gap whilst Emirates Marketing Project and Chelsea have won the lottery, the latter of which has been the main reason why we're currently not top 4 regulars IMHO. There has been great frustration with £108m mega spend that has led to no immediate success, slow progress with the new Stadium and nonexistent communication which is all understandable but to start considering the idea of Levy & Co. leaving doesn't seem like the best alternative.

I don't believe ENIC should be void of all criticism but there's no doubt in my mind that they are the reason why Tottenham Hotspur have improved under them. I can't imagine Joe Lewis and Daniel Levy sitting behind the scenes doing nothing as the ambition is so evident, just look at Hotspur Way for example. It can't be forgotten that there's hurdles and thanks to UEFA's BS reason for booting us out of their prized competition the height of those hurdles have been risen again and again and again...

The biggest irony I find with our current predicament is that those who choose the people to get us top 4 are always failing with there decisions yet there is no comeuppance for there actions.

failure to get top 4 and the prolonged building of the new ground, therefore minimal growth in their investment - would be the rather obvious 'comeuppance' of those at the top.

im struggling to think of any alternative to Enic Superhudd - what is it you want? them to sell up and for us to pray that whoever buys us does better? for me - right now for someone to say ENIC out and get someone else in is a gamble - a HUGE gamble, seeings as there are no ways to realistically judge how an owner would fare in this league.

personally id rate the chances of an alternate owner coming in and doing better, under the circumstances we are in, far less than it going the other way. For one i can't see an Abramovich type coming in as it's already a saturated market (and it's exactly this type who will be pumping in the 200m of their own cash which seems to be a requirement of yours) and 2, how many clubs out there would you describe as well run? (which would point towards there being at least someone as good as ENIC/Levy out there) Everton? Villa? Saudi Sportswashing Machine? Southampton? i don't see it, there are a **** ton of mismanged clubs not just in England but throughout the world and we're gonna throw away our relative stability because the stadium build is taking longer than expected. be careful what you wish for

I think shifting to that model would hurt us, The Cheeseheads compete in a sport with a CBA, a draft and a salary cap, the entire system is built to be equal, Munich are in a position of strength as they have long been the dominant force in the league and have massive advertising and merchandising income. Unless their was an entire PL change we would be handicapping ourselves.

Those figures don't really mean anything because of the way the membership works now.

True but the main point is that under Levy we saw the club go from middle table fodder struggling to sell 36,000 to European regulars who could fill 60,000 approx in the space of four years (2004 - 2008).

Admittedly it still so frustrating though, the past four years we've been so close but not close enough. I really hope this squad gels, because if it doesn't then we're screwed.

Green Bay can go **** themselves, the cheese ****ing ****s.

Is this situation unique to Levy/Enic and is it fair to single them out for blame?

I don't think so (surprisingly )

i can't think of many examples where clubs that aren't considered elite have been able to hold on to their stars when those that are come calling. Arsenal are the best example - Robin Van Persie, Fabregas and Nasri all left when they had the opportunity and that's a club which are forever destined to be in the Champions League - something that we can't even offer. Carrick, Berbatov, Modric and Bale - Manchester United and Real Madrid - the two biggest clubs in the world - i don't think anyone would have been able to stop them from leaving - i think we're managing that particular situation as well as anyone could, in our position and that this point in particular is one that i think is incredibly harsh to blame on the club.

It's an incredibly frustrating thing to happen but unfortunately i think it comes with the position that we find ourselves in.

To use your example, Arsenal can afford to let them players move on (and even then they done everything in their power to hold on to them) because they have the attraction of the CL (and now potentially challenging for title)and it seems they now have the money so they can pretty much replace world class player for world class player if need be.

Our policy over the years seems to have been pick up young players with great potential (e.g Bale) or take a risk on players that no one else will (eg. Modric, Berbatov) then sell them on for big money. Until that policy becomes pick up potential/take a risk allow them to develop and then hold on to them/force them to stay, we won't go anywhere. Essentially we are like an academy for the bigger sides in world football. We sort out our midfield creatively and we lose a top class CF, we develop a player into one of the best in the world and we lose our world class creative midfielder. We are destined to be a side with top class players, but never enough at the same time. The only time we actually managed it, we finished 4th, then the team was torn apart again.

what did Arsenal do, to keep hold of their players that we haven't? do you not think Arsenal fans were saying exactly the same things that some of our fans are when they weren't able to convince them to stay? Arsenal couldn't afford to lose those players at all - it set them back each time.

that's the position we are in, i dunno how better to put it than that - the policy is buy young with potential so that we can hopefully end up with players better than that we can attract as the finished article AND should they leave we get some profit to reinvest in the team. it's a sound plan - we cannot force players to stay - no club can and until i see some examples of clubs which make their players stay in these circumstances i don't see how we can say this is the fault of our board/chairman. It's a problem every club faces - the reason we have faced it more than most? because we have been successful in our attempts at unearthing some gems (which is a positive by the way ;) )

If I remember correctly, they fended off Barca for 3 years with Fabregas, United for 1 with RVP and I think they sold Nasri pretty much straight off. We sold Berbatov, Carrick and Bale the first time the big boys came knocking, the only one we forced to stay any longer was Modric and that was for one season. Of course it set them back but they still continually qualifies for CL and are now reaping the benifits as they have the money to finally replace them having paid off their stadium. It seems to me like they looked at the bigger picture and had a long term plan.

Liverpool? That has worked out fairly well for them so far. They are punching well above their weight thanks to the fact they forced Suarez to stay on for this season. Should they qualify for the CL, he'll probably commit to them long term (As in 'I'm happy here', not just sign a new contract like he just has). They have sorted their striking options, Rodgers can then look to strengthen the rest of the team with better players with the added attraction of CL. Had they not kept him this year, they would be no-where near the CL spots. Should it work out for them, they could secure a place there for years to come.

United with Rooney this year also. GHod only knows where they would now be sitting had they not forced him to stay.

Both are examples of players who have been 'forced' to stay and are currently doing the business for the clubs that forced them to do so.

We aren't allowing our manager (whoever that may be) to build a team around their best players. I appreciate that we can't stop everyone from leaving but everytime their is a rumour that we might lose our best player we as fans say, I would love Levy to come out and say, he is not for sale, end of (and actually stick to it). Liverpool have done it, United have done it, why shouldn't we.
