I obviously like the Hollywood stuff, but I've always been a fan of World Cinema.
A recent recommendation would be 'Incendies' - It's a French film about a set of twins who go to their mum's will reading, and their mum's final request is that they visit the middle east to find their brother and father. Twist is, neither of them knew they had a brother, and they thought their father was dead.
It's a sublime film, can't recommend it enough. Opens your eyes.
Like I say, I like Hollywood, but aside from the obvious classics, they all seem to follow a sort of blueprint (love story, hero wins etc).

The thing is the recent ones haven't been much cop: Carriers, meh. The Road, truly depressing and very slow. The Book of Eli, OK at best.
The best recent one is Zombieland.

Best soundtrack for a film?
Just watching Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (for the umpteenth time) on ITV2 at the moment, has a lot of very pertinent backing tracks.

Im glad you said that, I thought The Book of Eli was brick, absilute tosh. And yet it seemed to be really popular.
By the time the big twist at the end was revealed I just didnt care, thought it was rubbish.
Ive got Carriers on the planner to watch, guessed The Road would be like that so just didnt bother.
Children of Men is a very good shout.
Classics like Mad Max are always worth a go (also getting remade with Tom Hardy as Max)
