Victimpool FC - Klopp leaving, grown men crying

I think it's been a bad thing for them for years already

should have cashed in years ago

I agree. Been saying this for a while. The last 2-3 years he's just been like an average PL player rather than the player who would win games single-handedly like he was before

The liverpool players will be under intense and unaccustomed pressure during the run in and will screw up one way or the other.
Shhh! Given our record at the back end of seasons, bottling it and such, I'm not sure you should say this for fear of jinxing us again!

Liverpool looked way below par in the 1st half yesterday, I like Rodgers and his attacking intent but he went overboard with his lineup and paid the price. They could come to regret these dropped points, although Villa deserve credit cos they've had some cracking results away from home and just seem to play so much better on the road.

Just checked their fixtures and they've got Everton next. If that finishes a draw and we somehow overcome City we will be 4th. GHod knows how, but I'll take it!

Lucas out for a while aparently, injured his knee against Villa and left on cruches.

*Edit

Sunday express is the source according to Norwegian newspapers.

So we're level with these giants now? Surely not.

With the goal difference its like another point I spose.

But yes thus far we have recovered from our tonking magnificently. For all their beatings dished out we are back in the mix.

I thought the 'Oracle of Melwood' was too slow to change things yesterday. I also thought the Coutinho off & Lucas on sub was strange considering they were behind....hopefully with the Mersey derby they will kick seven barrels of manure out of each other thus increasing our league prospects!

Things are looking better but the return to Anfield is key!!! I know we can beat them....I just hope it happens!

I actually think the Lucas for Coutinho improved Liverpool. Sometimes you need to take off an attacking player for a defensive one in order to regain control, and that's what that substitution did for them. It allowed Gerrard to push up and be much better after his horrorshow of a first half in a deeper position.

Talking of Gerrard, I have no shame in saying he's one of my favourite non Spurs players cos I loved how dynamic he was and his matchwinning ability but I do think they are better off without him in the big games nowadays. They won the midfield battle at the Lane without him cos their midfield three were a good well balanced unit, Allen was nimble as **** on the day and kept getting round our giants in there, Lucas (if injured, bad for them) mopped up well and Henderson was given license to roam and was probably their best player. With Gerrard in their team I'd fancy us more to get a result at Anfield cos one thing our midfield is very good at is pressing with pace and he prefers having time to look up and pick a pass rather than the one touch footy their gaffer likes to see.

Is Liverpool's game against Everton on the same night as ours v City? Would like to be able to watch it and do some armchair scouting!

We have. Another positive for us is that we (somewhat like Chelsea) are only now clicking into gear. We've dealt with a really tough injury run without dropping too many points and now we're starting to look like a very good team - not just a very good squad.

Liverpool on the other hand have been playing some fantastic stuff at times, I have no problems admitting that. But do they have the squad to keep that up throughout the season? They don't have the depth in numbers that we do and although they have managed without a couple of key players with injuries I'm not sure if they have the defensive solidity and toughness that we had earlier in the season needed to grind out results if their teams isn't clicking.

It will get interesting for sure!

Sounds as if Lucas suffered quite a bad injury on the weekend, do we know how long he is going to be out for?? He did make a difference to their play when he came on but me Coutinho hasn't looked the same player since his injury.

Serious enough. A Press Association wire report in the Guardian says he's damaged the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

He'll be out six to eight weeks - or as David Beckham would say, 'two mumphs'. Doesn't say how badly he's torn the ligament, but if they're saying two months, it might be longer before he's up to speed again. That means Gerrard gets dropped back into an unhappy role for him. I'm looking at their sked and thinking if he survives the hand to hand combat of their upcoming derby with Evvah'in, he'll have a hamstring pop by their away trip to Arsenal, two games later.

Lucas is very injury prone. Almost as bad as Sandro. They'll miss him, not least because Gerrard will be guaranteed to play every game now and maybe Rogers will continue to play him as quarter back, which was apparently disastrous against Villa.

:ross: Made me giggle that did.

He looked incredibly **** there, especially in the first half. I really hope Rodgers continues to play him there.

I think Gerrard needs that defensive foil alongside him when he plays deep. He doesn't look comfortable as a holding midfielder but can do damage when being given the ball in a deep position with time to pick his passes.
