I assume we will be a batch of 10 teams come the draw (5 seeded/5 unseeded) so on the morning it will at least be narowed down to 1 in 5 to guess who our opponent might be

From a selfish point of view, wouldnt mind us having the home leg first, so we come down for 4 days and take in the 2 EL and Swansea match, plus, if we could get a comfortable win, like we did v Hearts, we could rest a few more 1st teamers before the Arsenal game

Tonight's CL results guarantee Swansea will be seeded assuming they reach the EL play-offs. Any team in the EL play-offs with a coefficient greater than 16.575 are certain to be seeded. Teams with a coefficient below 6.880 will definitely be unseeded.

So PAOK drop into the Europa League. However, UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against Metalist Kharkiv. It's possible that UEFA could ban Metalist Kharkiv and reinstate PAOK in the Champions League in their place. In that case presumably the unseeded team that is drawn against PAOK in the EL play-off would be given a bye into the group stage.


UEFA has today begun disciplinary proceedings relating to Ukrainian UEFA Champions League contenders FC Metalist Kharkiv.

Proceedings have been opened against Metalist under Articles 2.04g, 2.05 and 2.10 of the Regulations of the UEFA Champions League, 2013/14 competition, regarding the admission criteria for participation in UEFA competitions.

Due to the urgency of the case and in accordance with Article 23.3 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations, the case has been referred directly to the UEFA Appeals Body.

The case will be heard on Tuesday 13 August at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

I assume that as seeds we would be at home 2nd? This is really important as we wouldnt want to go to Eastern Europe 3 days before the Goons game regardless of whether we have a comfortable lead from the first game.

Also, would be good for Swansea to be drawn away first somewhere far away so that we have that advantage over them when we play at WHL on 25th. Best case scenario would be that we get a team from Scotland, Luxembourg, Denmark etc away first.

Assume Arsenal as seeds in CL will be at home second too which is a shame as would have been nice for them to go to extra-time (and lose!) somewhere like Zenit St Petersburg on the Wednesday before they play us.

All will be revealed tomorrow i guess....

UEFA only say they'll split the teams into seven groups, nothing about when it will be announced. Tomorrow morning would be my guess.

A few: Valencia, Bordeaux, Lazio, Anzhi, Wigan, Freiburg and Vitoria Guimaraes

Cup winners from the 7 top ranked nations. Usually 6, but Chelsea won't be defending their title.

Looking at that list, quite alot of teams from Eastern Europe. We want someone reasonably local so a team from Norway like Molde/Tromso or maybe Pasching from Austria or Grasshoppers from Switzerland would be good for us.
