*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United ***

Even 0-0 I was quite happy with the performance. We dominated for long periods.
Carroll against anyone but Les is a no contest-he is coming deeper and that is a worry.

Isnt that the main concern? Dominated possession for long period but created bugger all chances. THere's no creativity in central areas

it would be nice if he would pass occasionally though surely. he also makes life more difficult for the man playing up off him.

he passes a lot more now than he used to....its useless to beat him with the same old stick

he is nowhere near the problem.....in the form of his life, its the players around him that are not up his form

Defoe's all round game is very much improved

I agree, we do have some issues up-front but the problem is moreso the midfield (lack of creativity and control) rather than the front-line.

Dominating possession but creating very few clear chances is the story of our season so i was very worried again.

Its amazing how composed we look in defence...wonder why that is.

Because Dawson and Caulker have been solid and Dawson looks like he's shouting and talking and organising. Has a good look to it and Walker looks more composed as well without Gallas alongside, has to be said.

Defoe isn't the problem. The problem is we are reliant on a certain way of playing still from under Redknapp, which is wing-play. But our players aren't really that suited to it. We really need a central creative player who can feed through-balls through. We have controlled this entire game and West Ham look very ordinary, but we haven't carved them open time and again because we get to the area and we either run out of ideas and have to go back or we put in a cross that without anyone really good in the air in there, is often cleared. With Dembele in the team we look more dangerous as he runs centrally through midfield. If we did that more we'd be much more dangerous. As it is we are a good possession team that struggles to create clear-cut chances.

Our best performances have been with either Dembele or Carroll in midfield. Otherwise we are relying on one of our star players to come up with a bit of magic, like when Bale hit the bar and when luckily Defoe decides to beat 3 players and hammer it in the bottom corner.

Good post.

That depends on what you class the Dempsery role as - he plays between midfield and the front line and that role is meant to bring creativity and join the midfield and attack up. But we're getting nothing from that role. If we had a decent player in that position, Thudd would find him

Its excruciatingly obvious. nothing comes from the centre for us. if we are going to score it looks like itll take someone to literally run past about 5 men to create some space and/or actually create something resembling a chance.

Imo thudd is part of the problem.

One of the reasons Modric was so successful was his movement, he would get in the position for the easy pass. Which is something Hudd isn't mobile enough for.

exactly, and today as in other games he is having to cover/bail out an out of form and lacking in confidence Dempsey

Agree that Dawson for Gallas I think is having the biggest improvement on the defence. More organisation. Hopefully though, the fact that Lloris has played 3 games in the last week or so means that AVB now views him as first choice and we can have a settled GK

Club legend Alan Gilzean is here at the Lane today, a massive applause for him from the fans as he comes out at half time.

About bloody time!

Let's hope this is the start of a much closer relationship with one of Tottenham's all-time greatest players.

Gilzean! Gilzean!

Gilzean! Gilzean!

Born is the King of White Hart Lane!

Am not saying that Thudd is the solution - however I would rather have Thudd where he is and a decent player in Dempsey's position rather than change Thudd and still have Dempsey. Thudd could link up with a decent player further forward, though ideally you would replace both Thudd and DEmspey (similar to MOdric and VdV last year)

While not exactly scintillating, this is far from bad. A clean sheet and win would do wonders for our confidence. COYS!
