OMT - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR VS southampton

Let's hope we don't play like the last half very often. Still got some sorting out to do. Defoe is NOT the answer as lone striker. I said it would probably take a stubborn AVB until Christmas to admit it and change. I hope I'm not wrong -earlier would be good.

And let's keep the creativity in midfield..not take it off halfwayish through the game.

We're missing Kaboul, BAE, Parker, Dembele and Ade. That's a bench full of quality right there.

Is it tactics or mentality when under pressure the players seem to panic and sit deeper and deeper? Thing is this used to happen under our last manager as well.

Southampton switched to 3 in the middle started dominating the midfield and forced us back.
We moved to 433 way too late. When Livermore came on it should have been for Defoe or Dempsey.

Thankful of the 3pts, but cant believe we went from a postion of total command at 50mins 8 shots to 1, they hadnt even had a shot on target, to defending for grim death for the last 20mins.

Unreal that we sit in 4th, cant wait to have options with the returns of Ekotto,Dembele,Adebayor, then Parker and Kaboul.
Definitely need 2 quality signings in Jan to bolster the squad strength.

I think he doesn't have the options right now. Ideally, Dembele would be on and Hudd would come on...I think we're fit enough...let's see us fight fight fight this one out though...this is an important few minutes for us to show we don't have to be pretty...

I don't think we're as fit as last season. And if you think the European games are having an effect on us, then you agree whether you actually believe it or not.

And as for not having options, that's AVB's choice. He chose to let VDV go, so I assume he has a game plan to cope without him. If he let VDV go before we lined up a nailed on replacement, then again I have little sympathy.

I also think we're lacking leadership. Redknapp used that as his reason to bring in Parker, and it's painfully obvious that we have no real leadership in the team in his absence. Our midfield is actually still quite young, and it really could with an older head in there to calm things down.

Good result though today, and I am pleased with it.

Well won!!!!!
Knockers can sit down...it's not always pretty and it's not always fun...the sort of game we'd have lost last season.

Soon weren't going to be that brick in the second-half, and it turned into a fight.

Finally, for those who bash Livermore (and he wasn't amazing today) the boy doesn't hide and doesn't avoid getting involved. It takes all sorts to win a match...back in 4th despite the injuries.
COYS!

Can someone tell me wtf Jenas has done to be ousted by the clumsy oaf that is Jake Liverbore?

FFS I don't hate many players - but without doubt he is this decades Paul Stalteri.

Not a top 4 team im afraid. We should be doing teams like these with ease. Hopefullu there will be no more Livermore when Parker is fit and maybe he can go on loan in jan.

We really need a Modric / Mountinho type player in the middle of the park.

Another W ! Saints made it more difficult second half, I hate how nervous we look when the other team pressures us and get a goal back when we are leading. We also seem to forget how to hold the ball and pass it, go into space and make the easy target for a pass/receive the ball.

An important 3 points, but I want to see us more imposing and draw the sting out of a game.

We have bought some tripe, AVB needs to sort us out quick, if we want to be top 4 then Livermore, Dempsey and Siggy need improving on big time.

In fairness, though I agree that Livermore in the long run hopefully will be moved on, he is currently our 5th choice cm. We wouldn't be seeing him at all if Dembele and Parker weren't injured, or if we'd managed to get Moutinho like AVB had wanted.

Terrible in the 2nd half and a lot of things to sort out but the 3 points are the important thing so happy with that!

Anyone else's heart sinks to the deepest depths when the likes of Jake Livermore standing on the touchline waiting to come on?

Stalteri was decent, at least compared to Walker. Livermore is just not good enough to be a PL player.

AVB should have subbed Livermore and made a statement by showing that you cannot play that crap when you come on. Its just not acceptable.
