***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Kings Road WAN KERS - Sat, 5.30pm, Stamford S**thole***

Hmm... I'm scared we have a ghostly apparition in our goal?

Tottenham defender Andy Robertson speaking to Sky Sports after 2-0 win over Chelsea:

"You can see the quality within the squad, and it was just about piecing it all together. There was a lot of change in the summer. We signed a lot of players and lost a few who had been here for a long time, so it took a little bit of time, probably longer than we all wanted.

"But I do believe you're starting to see us click now. I thought today was probably our best performance of the season. The whole team was outstanding and, thankfully, we got the result we deserved.

"At times this season, our performances have probably been better than the final result, so I'm glad we got what we deserved today.

"We worked on being confident with the ball. We knew Chelsea are such a good team at pressing and they want to get off to a fast start. They commit a lot of bodies into our half, and it was up to us to have the confidence to play through that, but also have options if we couldn't.

"How many times in the first half did Guglielmo Vicario kick the ball into Mohammed Kudus? He was so strong and managed to get us up the pitch. It really helped us.

"Mathys Tel in front of me was outstanding today. He gave us a lot of options in behind and to hold the ball up. I thought our midfield was outstanding, and the defence was good with the ball at our feet as well.

"We moved Chelsea around and took them into areas where they were probably a bit uncomfortable. It's not an easy place to come, Stamford Bridge, and to show that confidence, have the possession stats we had and keep the ball so well is a credit to all the lads. I'm glad we got the goals in the end as well."

Also regulars on here will have noticed that I didn`t make any comments during the game. I am normally filled with anxiety and pessimism when posting but was watching the game not wanting to jinx things by making negative comments. But I have to say that when we went 2-0 up and they were down to 10 men it is probably the first time in years that I was comfortable thinking we had the game won. It`s the first time in the last couple of seasons when we have been 2-0 up with ten minutes to go that I actually was confident we were going to win.
I`ve said before I am way past a result making or ruining my weekend but that was really sweet today, cant have been the only one jumping out of my seat and punching the air at the final whistle

that would explain the clean sheet ;)

What a day.. First, my youngest won his game against the league leaders and put in a real shift, getting man of the match playing out of position.
Then when the kids were asking about watching Spurs I didnt want to ruin how happy he was so I dropped a few hints, "We never win at Chelsea", "We've improved but dont expect anything today", "Only won once in the last 35 or something!", "Maybe you wanna go meet with your mates?" etc.
Fast forward a couple of hours and we're all jumping round the living room like lunatics!

....football hey.

Had to watch the Coventry game in a bar in Dallas (by the cowboys stadium)
And got home late tonight on the way back so was following from my mates comments
Seen the highlights now
We look like the fitness has caught up and the players know physically and mentally what is expected
Helps we had some ballers on the pitch too

Wow, I’ve been positive on the direction of the club and the team but was not expecting that level of performance today. Amazing. Makes it all the more frustrating in some ways that we didn’t beat United, because it was a similar level of being a class above. And in theory on two of the toughest away trips we will have.

To a man, we were absolutely fantastic. Hard to call out any individuals but thought Van Hecke was amazing in the air. The team overall with the one touch, and in winning our duels, brilliant. Kudus holding it up. And Tel, so so happy for him.

Special mention for the terrible performance of the Chelsea players. They were clearly not expecting that either. Colwill losing his brick at the linesman because Solanke wasn’t flagged offside when he was clearly on. Belestra trying to get Kudus sent off just after Palmer went, when it was a completely fair tackle, and he just stayed on the floor play acting.

And Palmer…I think it is completely ridiculous that Bentancur gets ‘violent conduct’ for leaning his head slightly forward after being pushed to the ground with force. But Palmer gets away with a yellow for running up fell speed and hip checking someone in the face. Make it make sense!

As for Palmer’s red, Lee Dixon on US comms was saying he didn’t even think it was a second yellow! Probably the worst piece of co-comms I’ve ever heard. Seriously, not debating a straight red, it was a clear as day second yellow, when you consider what else passes for yellow and red these days. Literal quote ‘where else is he supposed to put his foot’. Unbelievable. Thought the Chelsea players lost their heads afterwards and there was some frankly odd behaviour towards Gallagher.

Lastly, hope Madders won’t be out too long. The one touch, the flicks around the corner under pressure, really makes the system work in possession.
