Not the fee I would have wanted but we make an 13mil paper profit on swapping him and Tosin.£2M Loan fee with an £18M obligation. Way too low. He has joined us and proven himself to be a capable Premier League player.
Going to be on £100k pw according to OhSoSpurs

I can see Big Kevs reasoning for leaving (or wanting to). We so needed him in the situation we found ourselves in last season. Of course, we are not going to find ourselves in that situation this season. Are we?And only time will tell if these squad decisions will be right, which is what I think people are discussing also. No one (as far as I can see) are making any bold statements
Danso was bought for 21m and we’re selling for 25m next year, so +4m profit. So if we’re buying Tosin for 7m then essentially means we’ve rotated a squad player for 3m outlay. So basically we are getting a 20M profit for replacing a squad player with another of relatively equivalent characteristics.... actually if we get the Fulham Tosin as opposed to the Chelscum one, he will be an upgrade.

I know the footballl accounting profits and amortization works differently, but just looking totals here…
Yeah, I was thinking of the bigger centre half equation this morning
We have replaced Romero, Dragusin, Danso, Vuskovic and Phillips with JPvH, Senesi and Tosin whilst giving Davies a new contract. So we end up with the following:
JPvH, VDV, Tosin, Senesi, Davies
Once the Dragusin deal materialises, I think that is about £130m recouped for the outlay of £60m.
The real question is whether that centre defence is any good?
This is the real and only question that matters and one that will be answered soon enough
I know there's huge mitigation regarding injuries and managerial change, but the last two seasons with the previous staff did result in a lot of goals being conceded.Yeah, I was thinking of the bigger centre half equation this morning

So, under De Zerbi, will the current defensive options allow a better performance that that which we've seen of late?

Yeah it’s interesting as normally we keep players at the club and make it difficult to leave unless a “good offer” comes in.The is the sort of squad churn or turnover which we haven't been great at historically.

After watching the game on Saturday, I am just as (if not more) worried about how de Zerbi is organising the defence as the qualities of individual players. Having Tonali isolated against Elanga or standing 15 yards from the nearest opposition player while they are attacking doesn't seem the best idea.
No of course and I think people get that, but the bigger picture is that he is IMO the only "defender first" that we have, so if he goes because he wants to, fine, but I think you need a similar profile in that respect in replacement.
I do get the "if they don't want to be here" arguments, but we seem far too happy with applying it to literally all the depth we need as a squad, part of the art of squad building is addressing it and keeping people as well IMO.
