Savinho

Good to have more attacking options, best of luck to the lad - hopefully with the shackles of Peps system off him he can show some flair and potentially become one of our most fun to watch players.

I’d personally be very happy with Savinho, looks a lively player, can cover a couple of positions and means we don’t have to flog Kudus to death.

Going in and out of Favour with Pep shouldn’t be held against him, seems to happen to almost all his players at one point or another (same applies to Marmoush).

The fees a bit ridiculous but the market seems all over the place this summer.

Have Chelsea and city had their pants pulled down spending £115m plus on a player?
What about Liverpool last season with isak?
Why is it only spurs these negative stories bubble up.
the negativity around us is as a result of our two seasons as "sleeping giants". Our spending power, if fully unlocked, was always designed to be bigger than just about everyone else, because Levy in his legacy act of genius built us a colosseum, which we could use for all manner of other revenues. The likes of Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Villa, even Utd are way behind us on that front, which is why their fans are looking at us and wondering how we can do this, both from a cash perspective but also from a regulatory one. The truth of that is that we are exploiting the system for when a club isn't in Europe, while we have also cleared out a lot:

Luka Vušković Brighton £46m
Will Lankshear Middlesbrough £10m
Alfie Devine Preston £6m
Manor Solomon West Ham £5m
Djed Spence Inter Milan £30m
Cristian Romero Atlético Madrid £34m
Ashley Phillips Middlesbrough £7m

Add to that the departures of Biss, Dragusin and Vicario removing their wages and we've made £138m or more, depending on performance of the likes of Vuskovic, Lankshear and Philips plus taken a good half a million off the weekly wage bill.

Near enough all our signings this summer improve the first 11. The question of price therefore should only be whether it affects our ability to improve in the next transfer window.

I’ve always thought Savinho looked exciting. A winger who can take on a player at full speed. Will get fans out their seats

I think there’s an argument to be had in that we paid what we believed to be acceptable. Therefore we haven’t overpaid. Perhaps we paid the high end of our perceived value of Savinho BUT we paid a fee that we were happy with. So is he expensive? Yes. Have we overpaid? No.

With the price of my season ticket, travel, what the club charge for merchandise, transaction fee on buying a ticket, having to pay for delivery from the shop, having to pay for cup games, women's season ticket not included for free etc etc

It's nice to see my investment being spent. Especially as we haven't had some dodgy takeover to do it.

I think we've been so indoctrinated in the Levy era to be risk averse and negative to teams being ambitious that there's a semi natural reaction acting this way now.
Must admit my first reaction was WTF to this fee, but you are right.

We spent years spending mid fees over and over again and writing off millions, lets actually try paying more for the managers target

Yeh absolutely can't argue with that, for me I have reservations about the player, I hope he stuffs it down my throat and proves me wrong.....COYS

Nope exactly, just the solid financial planning of the last 20 odd years and foresight to increase commercial revenues via a state of the art stadium have allowed this. Doesn’t happen overnight as Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Villa, Forest etc have found out trying to take short cuts.

It's amazing just had a look around some other Spurs forums, after years of moaning we don't back the manager , we don't spend high enough on players we want , now that we are spending moans all over the place that we are over paying , funny people football fans. :):):):):):)

To be fair fans are individual people, not one homogenous group. I’d imagine it’s mostly different fans complaining about different things.

There's definitely a huge element of that, also think some of the fan base are absorbing the negative narrative.
We've went from being the butt of the joke about being miserable and not spending any money to how can they spend so much, they're over paying, it's not fair and they are cheating.
The fear from other fans that the long term plan is finally paying off is palpable.

We should overpay on salaries, not fees. I was never one to moan about not spending enough. More that we didn't spend smart. For example, City are getting Allan from Palmeiras to replace Savinho. Smart might have been for us to get Allan.

In any case, if all our signings improve us, that's fine.
